New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks. I haven't noticed any off-flavors from having the hops in the serving keg. So I'm going to try it that way and see. Thanks for the recipe!

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks for posting this recipe! I brewed it last Saturday, and am ready to add the first batch of dry hops tomorrow. It smells delicious! Perhaps a little OT, but why do you use a separate dry-hop keg (and then transfer into a serving keg), instead of just serving out of the keg with the hops?

Help me wrap my brain around decoctions

Thanks for the replies, McKnuckle and RM-MN! I think I have it figured out now. That BTV episode was helpful in visualizing the process. Many thanks, and Cheers!

Help me wrap my brain around decoctions

Hi, I would like to brew the "Pious Traditional" (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=147815) and need some help in understanding the decoction steps. My setup is a 10-gal electric BIAB with recirculating PID temperature control. Here are the decoction steps from the recipe...

    Long-term keg storage of IPAs

I know it is not ideal, and I may not do it, but was just trying to find out some options. I only have 4 taps, and I'm not very good at estimating how long each keg will last. So I was thinking if I could have some kegs ready (or almost ready) to go, it would be good. Essentially all the...

    Long-term keg storage of IPAs

Hi all, I would like to be able to store IPAs for a while (2 months or so) before drinking them. I have read that the hop aroma will fade over time (esp if O2 is not purged). I was thinking that I could pressure-transfer from the FV into a Star-san-filled keg (I use Sankey sixtels) and put...

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

I don't know if I am having problems with extraction--the beers always taste good. But when I pull the hop bag out to check it, it looks like a water balloon. Hardly anything drains out, and the inside looks like it is covered (clogged?) with a film of hops, keeping the wort inside. I don't...

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

I used one of the Wilserbrewer hop bags in my boil today, using pellet hops. I noticed that when I pulled out the bag to check to see if the latest addition had gotten submerged, that there was a lot of liquid inside the bag that didn't drain out when I lifted it up. It seems like the hop...

how long will keg beer keep in a flip top bottle?

Nice! Prolly too late to add it to my list for this year, but maybe next year!

how long will keg beer keep in a flip top bottle?

Not to derail this thread too much, but why did you switch from the BierMuncher method to the beer gun?

    purging kegs

Another question I have is: how quickly do the oxidation products form? For example, if I rack from my FV into a keg filled with air (and dry-hops) (taking 5-10 min), then purge the remaining headspace down to <1% O2, will enough oxidation products form to be detectable by taste? Is 5-10...

    purging kegs

For a given headspace, which method uses less CO2? Purging more times at lower pressure, or purging fewer times at higher pressure?
