    Getting honey to dissolve in a mead at 40* F doesn't sound very fun.

    Yes pasteurization will kill the yeast but it really does ruin the delicate aromatics and flavor in a quality mead, too.

    Well, I'm sold. I'm smoking a cabbage next time I put something on there. I usually only use the top rack anyway, so plenty of room for veggies underneath.

    Finally got myself a set of this year's beer camp releases. I like this "southern table beer" OK, it packs a wallop of grapefruit.

    Brisket plans are also on hold. I'm having trouble finding a whole packer anywhere. One butcher I talked to said they simply aren't getting them recently, but instead just getting flats and those are a bit scarce.

    That looks like sheets of galvanized steel like you might find in ducting. My wife nixed the smoked trout. Says she wants to grill it instead. So now I'm thinking about a brisket.

    When I was doing the flooring in my current place, my knees hurt so bad despite kneepads, pillows, and really whatever else I could think of, that I decided I would gladly pay someone else to do that for me just so I never have to do it again.

    Put wood chunks in with the coals. Big chunks last longer than tiny ephemeral chips.
