    Thanks for the quick responses...I pitched the yeast and sealed her up tight. The ambient temp in the closet is 74 degrees, and eighteen hours later it has started bubbling.

    If you decide to buy the auto siphon, you can take the racking tube out and use the outside container as a wine thief. Double duty for only $9.99:)

    Siphoning is very easy when you use the auto siphon...only costs about $12 from LHBS and is a life saver. I use a wine thief to take a sample from the carboy for the hydrometer reading. Hope this helps.

    Well...brewed my second batch today!!! Wooohoooo! Bought a propane burner to keep SWMBO happy, but it rained all day. Sooooo, I had to brew on the stove again. Oh well, I will just have to listen to "It smells like bread in here" over and over and over. Guess I must be doing something...
