Kegged my first batch of Apfelwein after four weeks and I must say it is amazing! It is very clear and is the perfect balance of apple notes and dryness. Followed Ed's recipe to the letter, but used White House Apple Juice and only one pound of dextrose. Tomorrow, a new batch will be born...

I love my Better Bottles :D My LHBS doesn't like them and questions the fact that the O2 permeability is negligible. I think it is just because they don't carry them and would like to sell you a nice glass carboy instead.

I made Ed's Apfelwein on Monday with Whitehouse Apple Juice...the only two ingredients on the label are apple juice and water. The yeast has taken off and everything seems to be going well, except for that sulfur smell. Stinky, but should subside in the next few days. SWMBO is not a happy...

If you took the keg apart to sanitize, make sure you have the liquid post on the "out" side and the gas post on the "in" side. There is a difference, because they are slighty different in size. I spent the better part of three hours and several posts on the forum to figure this out.

I agree with Pumbaa...I have worked many accident scenes where drunk drivers killed innocent people minding their own business. Also, several fellow officers retired out because drunks, for some reason, like to drive towards the pretty flashing lights. Wish people would use DDs, or stay home...

Which Homebrew Supply Sites reveal the ingredients in their kits when you buy them? The kit I received from the Grape and Granary just listed them as 1, 2, 3, etc.

:o Duhhhhhh...I took apart the posts, dip tube, gas tube, etc. to sanitize, but switched the posts. Apparently, that makes a big difference. Everything is working fine now. Thanks rdwj for pointing me in the right direction to figure out my mess. Hopefully all that messing around didn't...

Obvious, but certainly necessary....on all accounts yes, the bottle's valve is on and the regulator shutoff is on. The pressure was set to 10 psi to purge the airspace, nothing...cranked up to 30 psi with no gas entering the keg. I don't get it.

:( I shook it, no gas noises...and even put the gas line on the "Out" port to see if I could get bubbles...nothing. It is either the poppit, or user error.

Ok...I am new to this kegging thing. I siphoned the beer into the keg from the secondary with intentions to force carb over the next 5-7 days. The tank was filled today...the regulator is working fine...and yes I have a gray gas disconnect attached to the "In" side of the keg. No gas is...

Just read the label on my liter bottle of Iodophor...states 1/2 cap=1/4oz. and 1/4oz will sanitize 2 1/2 gallons. So with the liter bottle cap, a cap will sanitize 5 gallons to 12.5 ppm

I use Iodophor with 1 cap per 5 gallons and have not had any problems. My understanding is with the proper dilution, it is a no rinse sanitizer.

I got my partner at work interested and his brew kit arrived today. He is ready to go and looking forward to brewing this weekend.:rockin:
