First all-grain batch, and some questions

Dry yeast seems pretty durable. I'm not sure what temp would kill it :)

First all-grain batch, and some questions

If you are really worried, get another pack of yeast, make a yeast starter, and dump it in. One of very first brews I messed up a killed my yeast like a dumb dumb. I thought I had to warm my yeast up so I put the tub of White Labs Yeast into warm water, very warm water like over 100F degrees...

    Fermentation Question

Yep it's fine. Some big beers do this.
  4. sniperd

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask right?

The timings are until you have it chilled. So zero (or flameout) means drop it in at 212 degrees and remove it (with your other hops) before you put it in the fermenter. However.. sometimes people do a 'whirlpool' or a 'stand' so they chill it to 70 and let it hangout for 30 minutes or so...

    Dry hop bag sanitize?

Boiling it works for sure. But I just dunk mine into my StarSan mix and use it.

    Best digital thermometer

Update, 100+ batches, over 5 years later and the are still working fine. Had to change the batteries a few times but rock solid.

I'll give you guys my take. I am an established member, I've made over 100 homebrew batches with my mash tuns and kettles. Typically 15 gallon batches, sometimes 30. All grain, all day. I've entered competitions and I've won two blue ribbons. I was a very early backer of the Brew on...

Hey I'm only a few years late to reply! I think you have to buy directly from them.

    Brewie

My Brewie is on the way to a California repair facility. It was getting a black screen part way through mashing. No cost to me, let's hope they get it all fixed and I'll be good to go!

    Brewie

Well they got back to me regarding my Brewie failing: "thanks for writing to us, and sending new pictures. I have updated the Service Ticket opened after your reported issue. Our Engineers will look at your ticket, but unfortunately - most probably - your machine will need repair. It does seem...

Several power cycles either gets me a black screen, white screen, or this mess. We shall see what support has to say.

and then it was over... black screen of death. Rebooting sometimes get the screen back for a few seconds. Mash/wort wasted. Contacting support.

Example of a funny message. Draining is completed at this point (cleaning cycle). I'll let it all slide if I can actually make beer with this thing though. I'll report back in a few days with that.

    Brewie

And cleaning continues... seems to be cycling water around. It instructed me to put in 2 'dishwasher' tablets that it came with. I just put some PBW in. I had asked during the Kickstarter if PBW was OK and they said sure.

Running a 'full clean cycle' now. Says it takes 2.5 hours. Some pics. Just making sure all the pumps work, no leaks before I do a brew. So far it seems fine. Some funny English on the prompts. When it's done a task like the 'unclog' it states, "Unclog is Ready!" I suspect it's just a...

    Brewie

Mine updated to 2.0 by itself, didn't give me a choice. I did a calibration today, unclog, and a few drains. I also got my Rusty Rex kit, which came with extra stuff I wasn't expecting. During the Kickstarter I was in early enough to get 4 'kegs'. So I've been homebrewing for a while and...

    Brewie

I got mine today! First impression... impressive! It feels super solid. It already had software version 1.9 on it, connected to my wifi, and updated itself. Only hang up I've had so far was connecting my water inlet. It comes with a PIPE threaded hose, NOT a garden hose adapter. It looks...

Thanks for sharing. Even though some people are having problems it's nice to see that this isn't vaporware. I'm on the East Coast of USA so I'm next in line after West Coast, but I'm happy to wait. I do NOT want something buggy and would rather wait. The goal of the brewie for me is to save...

I'm really excited to see somebody on HBT to get one and post a video of any kind of real use. I'm on the pre-order from last year (maybe 14 months?) and in USA. Fingers crossed!
