should i add my dark grains at mash out

.I didn't know Brewfather had that feature. Definitely good to know. Thanks!

BYO - no more printed magazines

LOL. If any of those beers are fusel, that Mustang doesn't stand a chance.

Or no headphone jack or removable battery on some cell phones. I'm still using my Galaxy S10 for that reason. Don't get me started on Logitech discontinuing and killing support for the Squeezebox. - typed from a 12 year old Lenovo laptop with a CD/DVD drive.

    Boil kettle filter/screen

If you're going with using no hop filter, just add in that lost 1/2 gallon of wert in your recipe to cover the loss to trub. You probably already know that, but wanted to mention it just in case.

BYO - no more printed magazines

I let both of my subscriptions lapse a few years ago. I guess I'm somewhat of an outlier as I didn't want to have to maintain a place to store tons and tons of magazine issues. I used to have a ton of those from publications like Sound & Vision and Home Theater Magazine back in the 90s/2000s...

    Boil kettle filter/screen

If you don't want to drill into your kettle, there's always those over the top of the kettle options like Bramling Cross mentioned. Here's an option from, again, Brew Hardware Spincycle Overboard I'm not affiliated with Brew Hardware, just a happy customer.

should i add my dark grains at mash out

Wouldn't it be easier to just steep those grains like you would with an extract recipe? I don't know why Palmer would do it that way as it seems to be more things to have to clean in the end. The next time I brew a dark beer, I'll just add the dark grains at the last 15 minutes of the mash or...

    Boil kettle filter/screen

Wow, didn't know they went out of business. My cousin has one and loves it. I know you don't have a whirlpool port, but have you tried stirring and just letting the wert settle? There's also those little dams that mount on the dip tube. Here's one from Brew Hardware. Think it would work? Clip...

just bought a PH meter...now trying to understand how to use it

Link to some good cheap wipes? I do something similar, but used a paper towel or (worse) "shook it" dry between dunkings, which probably isn't good for the probe. On another note, I use some small stainless cup for the wert sample and that sits in a larger cup of ice water to help bring the...

Games for game night? All adults, no kids

My wife, me, and another couple of friends or ours used to play these murder mystery in a box games. They are pretty cool with clues, links, phone numbers, etc to use in trying to solve a murder. The only two negatives I have are they are a bit pricey and it's pretty much one and done as far as...

    Wheat to add head retention

I read that article and came back thinking using carapils is just wasting mash tun space. I use carapils all the time thinking it's improving head retention. Am I wrong to think it's a useless grain now?

just bought a PH meter...now trying to understand how to use it

I tried to find the specific ones I watched, but am not having luck. I think these are some of them. Brewfather Brewing Water Tutorial, Short Circuited Brewers The above, I think was what led me to buy the Apera meter. I miss this channel. Brian had some great content. Calibrating Your pH...

just bought a PH meter...now trying to understand how to use it

I also have the Apera. I had a Ph Doctor before. They look like the same meter, but the Apera uses triple A batteries instead of those button style ones. I like that the Apera, at least mine, came with the 4 and 7 calibration solutions. There's a few videos from David Heath Homebrew, Bitter...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Nothing particular. The two times I used it was just because I didn't want to use US-05 for the umpteenth time. The beers were cloudy and took forever to clear. One was just a hoppy pale ale with cascade. The other was a pilsner. I fermented both around 65F. I definitely wasn't going for a...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Fair enough. I was just curious. A lot of folks don't like K-97, but there's something about it that I do like. It is a slow floculator, but besides that, the last couple of beers I used it on were positive for me.

    Floating Dip Tube Dispensing Issue

I didn't think about it, but I looked at some spare parts and found a couple of washers and nuts from an older bulkhead I used to use. This, if it works, saves me from having to hit my local Lowe's/Home Depot. I don't know why I didn't think about this sooner. Using a kettle with water in it...

    Scorched grain bag

Depending on the size of your kettle, here's a cheap solution for a false bottom. Stainless Cooling Rack I have one of those for my small 5 gallon kettle. Fits perfect and there's minimum dead space in the kettle. If you need something bigger, look to the false bottoms Bobby M sells here...
