    BIAB Brew Kettle suggestions needed

I stick mine on a magnet surface that keeps it nearby. I don't need, or want it, to be able to stick to the side of my direct fired boil kettle. When doing small batches in the kitchen, the exhaust hood above my stove keeps it within reach. Your grill thermo would work too if you didn't want a...

    BIAB Brew Kettle suggestions needed

A better option for thermometers is this one right here. Inkbird 1HT-1P Thermometer It has a display, is rechargable, has a magnetic back to it, and won't snag your brew bag. I'd get this and use the thermo port on your kettle for a recirculating/whirlpool. I have this same thermometer and love...

    BIAB Brew Kettle suggestions needed

I saw in your original post about the Brewmaster being 201 stainless. I can understand preferring 304, so have you looked at Delta Brewing Systems? They make a decent 15 gallon kettle that is 304 stainless for less than $250. Delta Brewing Systems 15 gallon kettle If you prefer something a bit...

    BIAB Brew Kettle suggestions needed

I have to agree with Max about Spike. I have a lot of Spike products, but a potential long lead time could be a deal breaker. Max also mentioned Brewhardware, which I also agree, so here's a budget option to look to if you don't want to pony up the funds for the uber kettles LINK It's not...

    BIAB Brew Kettle suggestions needed

For BIAB brewing of 5 batches, I'd go with a 15 gallon kettle as a minimum. 20 gallons is preferred by a few for bigger abv double batches. I don't drink as much as I used to, so my 15 gallon kettle is more than enough for the beers I brew, which are sessionable 5% or lower. One thing I'll add...

    best grain for foam?

I can believe that. I still hand wash all my beer glasses with logos though, as I'm afraid they'll fade away faster over time vs hand washing. No print glasses go in the washer.

    whats your favorite base malt?

Just trying to understand. Group buys by pass the retailer (More Beer, Northern, etc.) because pro brewers are buying direct from BSG. In other words, probrewers doing group buys eliminate the middle man for us homebrewers?

    Poo karma

I can always send my dog over to keep that from happening. He's freaking mean as hell. He tears into the other dogs like nothing. Wolves and coyotes piss them shelves, shaking when they spot him. There's warning flyers throughout UPS and FedEx warning drivers about my house (this is why I none...

Plugging the tube hole in kegerator

Meant to do this before when I read about it but forgot. Thanks for the reminder. Changed mine to 5C (41F).

Plugging the tube hole in kegerator

Not my picture, but I use that same regulator. To my knowledge the Kegland/Komos are one and the same. Komos is the name used so More Beer can sell them. William's Brewing is the official distributor, so they carry the Kegland version.

Plugging the tube hole in kegerator

It's the 4 screws that your bracket would mount to for a 5lb co2 tank (like in Broken Crow's pic). Like you, I don't use my bracket and removed it since I have a 20lb tank. I don't have any pics as I don't have anything fabbed up just yet. You can just takes some sheet steel, plywood, etc and...

    Nicknames for your fermenter?

No shame there. I had those names for my CF-10 and Flex+, but got lazy and just called them what they were. I have a 15 gallon corny that I was going to call the Saturn V. Like with the others, I got lazy and now just call it Big Corny. I was going to put some decals and/or paint to make it...

Plugging the tube hole in kegerator

@hilljack13 @Broken Crow If you guys aren't using the co2 tank bracket, couldn't you just fab up something utilizing those mounting points? I took my bracket off as I have a 20lb co2 cylinder. I thought about using some fiber board to mount my 4 way distributor and maybe a secondary regulator...

Water Chemistry for a Mexican lager

Got through with my brew day and it went peachy. I think I set a record for fastest brew day ever. About 4 hrs. The biggest thing I love about brewing in the spring/near spring is the ground water is still cold even though it can be sunny and in the 60s. I didn't use any brewing salts and just...

    Nicknames for your fermenter?

The day you get that conical, the name of the first beer going into it should be "The Chronicbockles of Narnia"

Plugging the tube hole in kegerator

I have the same kegerator. I recently swapped the 4 tap tube tower that came with it for my old T tower with the same number of taps. Like Broken Crow, I used the insulation that came with mine to insulate the tower. I'm going to use a piece of that same insulation to plug any gap(s), so I can...

    Nicknames for your fermenter?

@Broken Crow You should get two more baby kegs and name them Lerxst and the Professor for Alex and Neil. Can't go wrong with Rush.

    RIP Northern Brewer Homebrew Forum?!

I used to get on there a lot back in the day. I stayed on there more than here at one point, but like Dmtaylor mentioned, when they changed their sight I left. I remember when Will Wheaton joined their forum when NB was promoting his w00t stout. Some of those guys got brutal. LOL! I think this...
