New idea to identify beer/tap lines

I use colored electrical tape. Green tape for the gas lines with a silver Sharpie numbered 1-4 and orange tape for the beer lines. I even added small pieces of green/orange tape with in/out on some of my kegs so I can see them better in low light. It doesn't look nowhere near as cool as yours...

    Top 5 Dry Yeasts?

Is there an updated list of current dry yeasts with what strains they are and their liquid and other dry counterparts? I like to see one that listed all if not the major brands. I like knowing what the strains are too (ex: W34/70, Diamond = Westaphaner, US-05, Imperial Flagship = Chico, etc).

    Mexican Lager at Room Temp

I have some Novalager on hand. I may use it on a future batch, if the Atlantico comes out the way I want.

    Mexican Lager at Room Temp

I currently have the Atlantico in a fermenter now. I'll probably keg it this week. This is my second one with this recipe. The first recipe, I used WLP 940 and planned on pressure fermenting in my Fermzilla All Rounder. The All Rounder wouldn't hold pressure and the fermatation temps got up to...

    Making Mill table thoughts

Agree about the cordless drill, but it's all I've got for now. I usually put it on the slower setting.

    Making Mill table thoughts

That's a pretty slick setup. Is that an Aleworks motor too?

    Beer Line Cleaning

I used to do that until I saw rust on the metal part of the brush. Now I use these instead. Universal Beer Tap Faucet Plug

    Making Mill table thoughts

Just curious. What is the noise level running with that motor (or similar, since the Ale works isn't available) compared to using a cordless drill? I use a Bosch 18V cordless on my Malt Muncher 3 roll mill.

    Beer Line Cleaning

Like the others mentioned, because of the plasticky taste. This was from the Bevlex line I was using. In the past, if I went more than a day between pours, the beer in the line tasted stale. This is why I would flush the first few ounces out, then fill my glass. When I switched to the EVA line...

    west coast pilsner #2

I did mine this past Sunday. West Coast Citra Pilsner Pilsen malt 89.5% Munich malt 5% Wheat 5% Roasted Barley 0.5% (wanted to add some color, may have been a bit much) Mashed at 152F, Mash Out at 170F. 0.5 oz Chinook at 45 min with Citra: 0.5oz at 10 min, 1oz at 5 min, and 3 oz will be...

    Beer Line Cleaning

I feel the same and, imo, that's where the EVA Barrier line with Duotight/John Guest fittings shine vs the old school Bevlex beer lines. The beer didn't go stale in the lines as fast with the EVA lines as with the Bevlex beer lines. If it's been more than a couple of days, I'd flush the beer in...

    best grain for foam?

Plus, they are expensive. I think I saw an episode of Apartment Brewer where his were around $300.

Mixing Starsan by the gallon using digtal scale. Does this sound right?

Bill Tull from Conan O Brien showed me. He has all the best budget tips. Here's some more tips just in time for Cinco De Mayo....

Mixing Starsan by the gallon using digtal scale. Does this sound right?

Take a gallon of distilled water from CVS, One free infant medicine syringe with 6 mL of Star San in it, BOOM! 1 gallon of sanitizer.

Can't go wrong with stainless. Very nice brewery setup Deadalus!

I've thought about that cabinet. I like that it's stainless. That would look great with my stainless table.

    west coast pilsner #2

I may give that a whirl. I definitely have plenty of Citra. Probably do 90% pilsen, 5% each of Munich and wheat for the grist.

    west coast pilsner #2

That looks like a solid recipe and I have most of the ingredients except for the perle. What would be a good substitute? I don't have CS German, but a fresh slurry of W34/70 from a recently kegged batch.

    Making Mill table thoughts

I've thought about an unfinished kitchen cabinet base on a dolly for mine. Add a top with the cut out for the mill and chute to the bucket. Everything stores in the cabinet that can be wheeled away to storage when done.

Switching gas lines to EvaBarrier / Duotight

I used colored electrical tape and a Sharpie to mark the lines. Green 1-4 for gas, and orange 1-4 for beer. Did the same for my kegs so I could see the "in" and "out" easier in low light.
