Finally got my water report. Take a look please.

I contacted a very nice scientist with the city And she provided me with a water report of the water as it's leaving the facility. I guess they take two test a day and she gave me a few day's worth of results. Just need to know if this is acceptable for brewing or if I need to think of something...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Boddingtons is swill. Even when cold it tastes like warm beer. Hard to explain. It's been like this every time. Natural Light is horrible (pretty much like every other light beer) and that was all anyone ever served in college. I find most domestic big brands to be low on my list.

ice water bath after you reach your FG?

Quick question: After the beers time in the fermenter to reach your FG numbers (lets say 2 or 3 weeks), can you then give it a good cold soak for a day or two in an ice water bath or fridge to help clarify it before you rack it into a bottling bucket and continue on? Also should the beer reach...

    "Cooking the Fridge" style brewing?

I'm sure everyone has heard of cooking the fridge. You just open the door, see what you have, and throw it together. Does anyone do this with brewing? You know: "Well i've got some DME, a bit of LME, and two or three hops varieties laying around getting old. Can I throw it all together and brew...

    Equipment list help.

Yeah those kits are good deals. The SS pot makes up almost 50% of the value already. I can't wait! :) I should be ready for the first batch around May 1st. I'll keep brewing notes and either ask for help here or tell how it's going/how it went.

    Why do airlocks explode?

Thats what I was meaning and ok that explains it lol. For how long should a blow off tube be used?
  11. J

    Why do airlocks explode?

Aren't airlocks supposed to let off the pressure just like blowoff tubes? I realize that airlocks are smaller passages, but it should still be plenty to let off pressure no? Why don't they re-design airlocks to work properly?

That is entirely too much $$$$$ for me lol. But it's a cool machine for sure though.

    Equipment list help.

I can really only do serious drinking on weekends because of the job but most weekends were always busy running around. I'll settle for new bottles ;)

    Equipment list help.

kcoect: That list is like a super advanced home brewing list lol. And kev yeah i guess that part wouldn't be hard but to be honest i've stopped buying beer since i thought about brewing my own, and i never saved any bottles, so drinking enough between now and brewing time would be hard. :)

    Equipment list help.

The starter kit I have my eye on is on Amazon but from Midwest supply I think. I could check the local store but honestly 5 gallon is ok for now. Baby steps. Gotta keep the upfront cost down to maintain spousal support haha.

    Equipment list help.

Yeah I'm on an electric stove (flat glass top not those metal coils) and i don't think I could do a full boil. And since I'm cooking inside with a little dog running around i wont get a propane turkey fryer. Maybe once we get a house lol.

    Equipment list help.

Well as far as bottles I want nice new clean no label bottles lol. I'm ocd like that. As far as the racking cane I've seen a video on how to easily start the siphon and it'll do for now. As far as kettle do you know of a starter kit that has a bigger one in it? I certainly don't want to buy all...
