    Aeration bubbled out of carboy

    I use the same system on my brews. FWIW you can set a timer to 30 or 45 minutes when you start in case you have to walk away. Works for me when I know I have a few other things that need to get done. Cheers :mug:

    adding Vanilla Bean

    I am working on a Coconut Vanilla Porter used one bean split scrape and cut into pieces covered with Vodka. Didn't get the strong Vanilla until about the second week. Shaking once in awhile and keeping in a dark cabinet.http://cdn.homebrewtalk.com/images/smilies/occasion14.gif

    First Broken Hydrometer

    Used too hot water on first one readings all screwed up, brought new one rolled out of my hand to table then in very slow motion fall to floor. I am ashamed of the language that I used as it was falling and hitting floor. :) Dad was in Navy learned a lot of interesting words..... hopefully...

    How Do You Aerate?

    Started with shaking 2 gallon buckets moved to 5 gallon and after reading here brought aeration system pump , filter and stone.

    Although new to brewing also here is my take on the instructions. Looks like the cereal mash is the 2.26 lbs of corn grits and 5 oz. of 6 row malt done separately in 3.3 quarts of water. Adjust since you are making 3 gallons instead of 5. Add the rest of grains to mash tun and mash. In the...
