    Stainless CFC

Maybe it's a little pricey and now that I have a second chiller I'll sell this for $155 shipped

    Stainless CFC

For sale is my stainless CFC I've been using for the past few months. The chiller came with brass fittings on the wort side but both arrived to me cracked when I bought it from another member so I had a local SS welder remove and attach new SS 1/2" MPT fittings to outfit the CFC as full SS on...

Looking for a 30 gallon boiler

Check out plastic conical induction tanks. I ferment 7-15 gal in mine (slated as 15 gal but holds roughly 18). You could probably get your anticipated volumes in a 30 gal conical

Brooklyn Brew Shop - Citrus Gose

Could you brew a second batch, skip the salt and then blend the two to mellow things out a bit?

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

You could definitely fill to the brim but all you really need is about 1-2 mins of contact time if you spray the inside using a squirt bottle. For Star San to be effective, you need roughly 30 sec of "wet" contact which means fully submerged or 1-2 mins of the sprayed solution. My cleaning...

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

@ artifishal - could you show another view of the catcher from the top down so that I can see how you connected the TC to the lid. Did you just silver solder them together? Thanks

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Wyeast American ale 1056. It's on its 5th generation and still doing great. I didn't mind washing yeast before and then making a starter, but pitching this slurry into this wknds brew is gonna be so much better. I've never pitched from a slurry but I moved this into two separate mason jars...

    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Finally got to use the conical and after a slight hiccup, everything seems to be a success. The hiccup was that after a week into fermentation, I wasn't seeing a solid yeast pile above the ball valve and then I realized that the sides were coated in a thick layer. After a few gentle taps with...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

The solution to my cleaning frustrations was sitting next to me the whole time. My shop vac was champ, removing grain, water in the HERMS coil, and cleaning the domed bottom perfectly (just don't forget to remove the filter). I had so much fun cleaning that I filled the 10 gal reservoir and...

    SSR Selection Assistance

Here's my experience to date... I started with a 40 amp Auber SSR that I blew up (wiring issue) before being able to use so I'll never know its quality, but I presume it would have worked fine based other HBT'ers comments I then order a 2 for $19 40 amp Fotek deal and had issues with the SSR...

    Red Beet Beer

1 month update - the color and aroma remain unchanged but the strong beet flavor has diminished greatly. The farmhouse yeast flavor contributions are now in balance with the beet tones. The beet flavors are not dominating anymore and the beer has a quick, clean finish. After trying my first...

Boil Pulsing -PID in Manual Mode

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the quick feedback and insight. I'll change a few settings as suggested and run everything again when i get another spare hour or so in the next few days but for the time being, I'm with "landolincoln" in that the pulsing can't really affect much if anything...

Boil Pulsing -PID in Manual Mode

I read somewhere about reducing the cycle time to something like 2 or 3 seconds to smoothen out the boil as it would fire on and off much faster but wasn't sure if others experience the same kind of pulsing. I'm of the mind set that it it works, don't change it but I only have two ebrews under...

Boil Pulsing -PID in Manual Mode

Gotcha... I'm using an Auber 2352 PID and hit the A/M button to go from auto to manual. I then program the PID to 100% until hot break then back down to 67%ish On a side note, my thermometer is always in the HLT but swap out element cables depending on needing the BK or HLT
