    So who's brewing this weekend?

Trying out the Dead Ringer recipe on Sunday.

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

I've been using this system for a while and typically see 75-78% efficiency. I hadn't really given much thought to the flow through the grain as most of the grain bills were reasonably similar as far as total pounds. Yesterday though, I brewed a mild which was about 8 pounds of grain in...

    Cream Ale Concerns...

This is my go to kit when I need something fast and want to please the masses. It's always turned around quickly - usually I leave it 2 weeks in the primary and then bottle or keg. I've never had any off flavors and I think the kit is quite good - but I do ferment at 66 degrees. I think it's...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Planning on brewing up Ed Wort's Haus Pale Ale with homegrown Cascade hops for flavor and aroma. About time those hop plants pay off after 2 years of tender loving care!

    Pete's Wicked Ale

Wow, I had no idea they went out of business. I assumed they had just scaled back. I just finished drinking a beer out of this... Now a collectors item!!!

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

590 Slipped out of the case onto the granite counter top. That's number 2 and counting for me personally.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a somewhat late Oktoberfest today.

    Are you fit or fat?

I'm getting fit. Over the last 10 years my weight has very slowly been creeping up but the slow creep suddenly turned into a sprint late last year. Mostly it was due to too much work travel and a lack of exercise. For some reason I let my eating habits just go bonkers during the holiday season...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

5 Gallons of BierMunchers Centennial Blonde on Saturday.

Going to Sydney and Cairns, need recommendations

I really enjoyed this place. It's just a basic pub, but great Australian beer on tap. The bartender was from Philadelphia of all places and she was quite interesting to talk to. The quotes on the walls were fantastic. Ton of craft beer - check out the link...

How much beer do you have?

10 gallons in kegs plus another 30-40 bottles - Although with friends coming over for Memorial Day the kegs will be gone and I'll probably have a different set of bottles to replace mine. My friends have good taste so the turnover is very much appreciated. I'll be brewing quite a bit in June...

What I did for beer today

I set up a new kegerator/tower this weekend. I had the joy of getting to the HB shop to buy a bunch of extra equipment and swap my CO2 tank only to realize I forgot the tank. Yep.... Several hour of connecting parts, sanitizing and another car trip later - I connected corny of pilsner then...

Do you ever get tired of big beers?

I apply a bit of a different logic. I brew the beer I drink in quantity (session beer) because it allows me to brew more often. I tend to buy bigger beers in small quantities from the store. The key thing for me is a lot of variety in bigger beers and there is certainly a lot out there...

Do you ever get tired of big beers?

I can attest to fizzy yellow beer being an awesome session beer. That's a great choice. 5 gallons gone in 3 hours type of goodness....

    So who's brewing this weekend?

5 Gallons of Special (English Pale Ale) on Sunday.

    Recommend a Commercial Porter?

Best commercial example as far as I'm concerned and I did a clone as well (thanks J. Palmer!) with the same result - it didn't last long.

    Anyone not use Star San?

My disclaimer is that I do use Starsan but it really depends on what I'm doing. My go to is One Step because it cleans and sanitizes despite not being labeled a sanitizer. I'd rather kill two birds with one stone (or one step in this case). Starsan does have it's place though. It's a contact...

    English Mild

Just as I was saying you don't see many examples ! I'll have to find some.

    English Mild

I haven't seen many examples of milds in the US. What I have seen is often way past is the expiration with a generous coating of dust and I've found it's not a beer that ages well especially those in clear bottles. Even in the UK they are getting rare. Sometimes you will will them referred to as...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

A bit late to the thread but I brewed up a German Pils on Saturday - St. Patrick's. It's quietly bubbling away....
