Historical Beer: Kentucky Common "Kiss Yer Cousin" Rye Kentucky Common Ale

Revvy, should I go with US 05 for my first attempt or have you found a more reliable yeast for this? It'll be my third all-grain batch, so I'm still a bit clueless.

Stability report on a new Hach Pro+ pH meter

My Hach didn't work on the second brew day I wanted to use it. The pH display only read "----", so I brewed without it. I emailed Hach about it and confessed to dropping it a couple of feet onto a towel-covered counter once. The storage cap was on at the time and didn't come off. I didn't...

Stability report on a new Hach Pro+ pH meter

As an avid lurker, I've learned a lot from you all. I thought I'd post my stability test results to contribute a trifle at least. Maybe it'd help somebody decide what they want to buy or not buy. I got the Hach Pro+ and used it for the first time yesterday. It came with only a few...

Patersbier - Over hopped. Should I dump it?

Yeah, I'm sure it'd be fine with time and wouldn't be so bad a beer even. It's just that I made it for my main summer lawn mower beer, I'm nearly out of lawn mower beer, and I'm not a fan of hoppy/bitter beer. IPA's ain't my bag. For bitter and tongue attacks, I turn to bourbon. :cross...

Patersbier - Over hopped. Should I dump it?

Thanks for the helpful summary. I wasn't sure what'd be missed without full extract boil. Adding any fresh flavor/aroma hops would be a wild guess for me. The first batch has only been fermenting for a week, so the hop effects are still fresh I guess. If I boiled a non-hopped batch today...

Patersbier - Over hopped. Should I dump it?

If I boiled up an unhopped batch and blended it with the over hopped batch, should the blend end up being 23 IBU's as intended? Or is that oversimplifying it all. If not hopping, there'd be no reason to boil for an hour, right?

Patersbier - Over hopped. Should I dump it?

lol Thanks for the replies. I don't have enough experience to know it'll be like. Double hops in a light beer seemed potentially awful. I don't have the hops addiction. At least I don't think so. Yet anyway. heh heh Guess I'll just keg it and drink it. It's beer. I'll like it...

Patersbier - Over hopped. Should I dump it?

Brewed my second Patersbier kit from Northern Brewer this morning. The first batch was great so I bought two more kits. Today's brew tasted a little bitter after the boil. It hit me tonight that the dang kit came with a one ounce packs of each, bittering and aroma hops. The instructions...

Noob filled his romps. What should I do now?

Thanks for the advice, Yooper. My basement hovers between 64 and 68F this time of year. The soup is at 64 now. I'll pitch and put it down there!

Right! Gotta have fun! I need to lighten up. Thanks to all for the adjustment!

Noob filled his romps. What should I do now?

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the tips and encouragement! I'll just pitch the yeast when it warms and hope for the best. I don't want to waste any more time or propane on this batch. It will be light but somebody in the family might like it. Just makes me want to kick my own...

Noob filled his romps. What should I do now?

Hey. After "brewing" Mr Beer and Munton's no-boil kits for a year, I bought a burner, boil pot, and whatnot. Brewed a BB Kölsch kit and it seemed to go well; bottled it a couple days ago. Today I brewed a BB Cream Ale kit, thinking "what could go wrong?". Not much did until I was pouring...
