    Strange equipment

The one on the left in the last photo looks like a simple distillation column to me.

    Table Top RPG Plots

I'll think on it. But I like the idea of the crazy psion. Could make for an interesting side quest, either finding the lost stone (if it even exists) or finding the source of his madness.

    What are you drinking now?

Got a fridge full of home brew, yet this sounded best after mowing the lawn.

    Young Love advice needed

Worst case scenario, you get shot down, feel awkward and foolish for a week or so, then get over it. Go for it. You'll regret it if you don't.

    Sunday Morning

Just listened to the 20th anniversary cast. There isn't a whole lot in the work funnier than hearing Julia Child say "To hell with that" about dieting.

    propane brewing indoors?

As above... It'll most likely end up hotter inside than outdoors pretty quickly. And more likely than not it'll take a long time to clear that heat out... Bite the bullet and brew outside.

    Sunday Morning

Making pizzas and catching up on Splendid Table podcasts. Weeding the garden once my assistant wakes up (she doesn't help much, but she likes being outside with daddy). Gotta work tonight, so not doing too much.

    Christmas wine?

Cardamom tends to be christmassy. Or something piney like juniper berries. Or maybe dry hop the wine with a piney hop for a little bit. Like a grape based hopped mead.

Things about your co-workers that annoy you

I spend the first hour of my shift fixing everything second shift screwed up and get the line running good for an hour and a half after that... Then comes the relief operator and it's break time... Twenty minutes later I'm back on the floor and my line is down because he decided to mess with the...

Wintergreen Essential Oil safe to use in root beer?

Organic doesn't necessarily mean safe to eat... All that refers to is the way in which it was grown / raised. That being said, my two cents say it's alright, but I am in no means a medical professional. I would think, though, since it's the essential oils of the plant that it would be very...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

5 gallons cranberry-grape wine 3 gallons wild grape wine 5 gallons dandelion wine 5 gallons irish red ale

Hop leaves all have holes in them already?

Is this on all of your leaves or just in a certain section? The way the borders of the holes are discolored almost makes me think it's a bacterial infection.

    Wood working magazines

Woodworker's Journal is probably the best one I've come across. Usually several sets of plans in each issue, ranging from simple toys to grandfather clocks.

    The "Dear" , "Sincerely" thread

Dear rain, While I appreciate your tenacity and perseverance, my garden would appreciate it if you could take a break so I can pull the weeds. Sincerely, Waterlogged

    Don't Do That.

Brewed on Friday. Forgot about 15lbs of spent grain + absorbed water in the mash tun until Monday. Don't do that.

    help! this look right?

It's caused by any one of several fungal pathogens, usually phytophthora, or "slime molds." It results from unusually moist soil conditions. Basically, the fungus eats through the sprout at the level of the soil and cuts it off. Once symptoms show there isn't much that can be done to save the...

    help! this look right?

It looks to me like either too much water or possibly damping off.

What ate my rhizomes, and how do I stop them?

I'm in a constant battle with chipmunks eating my hops. They seem to especially like the cones. Bloodmeal works wonders. It's natural, will repel most any herbivores, and when it rains it will leech into the soil adding nitrogen and other trace minerals.

Outside of homebrewing, what do you guys do?

Work as a line operator in a food packaging factory. At home I play in the kitchen, do woodworking, repair and restore old tractors, and garden like crazy in the short summer.
