    Hazlenut Brown Ale

I know that this is an old post, but I don't venture into this thread line very often. I'm in Sumter. I've got the same issue that you do with lack of local options so I have to rely on online supplies. I do have the equipment for all grain and we've (me and some local brewers) have been...

Great efficiency or boiled too long?

Thanks for your input. I added 3/4 gallon of distilled water to get to.6 gallons and the OG was now at 1.074. Still higher than the recipe but much closer than before. Can't wait to see how it turns out, but it'll be a while. Not sure lagers will be for me - all this waiting!

Great efficiency or boiled too long?

I brewed a maibock today and it was a great brew day. Recipe figured 75% efficiency and a 6 gallon batch size with a OG of 1.068. I wound up with 5 gallons in the fermenter and an OG of 1.080. This is only my third all grain and my previous two had OG's well below their target. I did use a new...

Helles Bock HBT BJCP comp winning Maibock

I brewed this today. Been waiting for a while, but finally got to it. It's only my third all grain and first lager. I have either thrown off my efficiency issues or boiled down too much, or both, as I ended with 5 gallons in the fermenter at a OG of 1.080. I haven't added yeast yet as I'm...

Transferring wort to fermenter using ball valve

I don't use tubing. But do use a stainless conical screen that I got at a kitchen supply store. This helps filter out old hips and hot break and also adds extra aeration. I have a large funnel I'll use of I'm using the carboy as a fermenter.

    South Carolina Electric All-Grain Brewery - $3,500

Still interested in the kegs and kegging equipment if you consider splitting that off. I already have a three kettle set up but am now ready to switch from bottling to kegs.

    South Carolina Electric All-Grain Brewery - $3,500

I'm not far down the road and would be interested in the grain, chiller, kegs, co2 tanks and gauges if you'd be willing to part out. Maybe even the fridge/ chamber. I really just don't need the kettles or controller. I can pick up.
