    PicoBrew Zymatic

For the Kentucky Common recipe I do use the "whirlpool" technique of using the hop cages during cooling. Otherwise, pretty much by the book :mug:

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Ok folks, more proof that you can use against the nay-sayers who claim Zymatic cannot brew a good beer. I know this is not the first instance, and it will certainly not be the last, but that doesn't make me any less proud of my Z, and the support from the PB team getting to this level. Very...

The keg topper works great for fermentation I use it all the time. yes I have multiple keg toppers. I have one (soon two) with a hole punched for a thermowell, so I can measure and control fermentation temp (BrewPi). If you don't trust it, you can get corny lids with an extra hole drilled where...

    tilt v.s. brew bug

I think you are missing the point. The Tilt gives you the ability to "see" the SG at any point. The alternative is taking a sample, and unless you are using a conical with a tap, you have to sanitize the thief or other sample taker. Unless KISS for you means leave it for two weeks and then cold...

    tilt v.s. brew bug

While SG/temp automation is great, I just adjusted the beer profile by changing the day numbers. As soon as I saw that I was reaching TG, I moved the start of the diacetyl rest to that evening. And then adjusted the next steps accordingly. Yes, some manual work but all it took was five minutes...

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

Worked for me, although I did add an extension USB cable to mt RPi so I could hang the BT dongle inside the freezer, for reliability Stefan

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

I use an add-on to BrewPi instead of their app and am pretty happy with the results. I did notice on the prior brew that there is a sharp dip in SG when cold crashing, although the SG did rise over time back to where it should have been (according to the refractometer) Stefan

    Native Python BrewPi controller

I thought a main reason for using the Arduino was to have a PID. Does the RPi have that? Stefan

    Ocean / Sea Water?

Google spanish beer sea water, to find the Spanish brewer that does just that, brews beer with (modified) sea water. I tried a bottle while in Spain, pretty good. Stefan

    tilt v.s. brew bug

Check the Tilt site for a list of compatible tablets and phones. You need BT 4.0 + LE. Because it is LE, if your PC does have it, it will need to be fairly close to your fermenter to read it. Before I had my BrewPi connected, I used my wife's iPhone to read the value once a day, but it is...

What do you do with your spent grains?

I put them in our compost bin. Next morning the grains look alive since the worms in the bin LOVE the grains Stefan

What do you do with your spent grains?

https://www.homebrewsupply.com/learn/making-spent-grain-bread.html This is the recipe that I use, and after trying a couple of other ones, including drying and milling, this is the tastiest and easiest to make. In fact, now after every brew I will make three freezer bags, each with three cups...

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

Make sure that your BT 4.0 includes BLE (Low Energy), not sure that all devices that run BT 4.0 automatically have BLE. But I could be wrong, maybe a BT guru can set me right

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I bought a (white) bus boy bin at a restaurant supply store. It is wider than the step filter so easy to dump the grains. No worry about the screen, I just lift it out. I take out 6-9 cups before dumping the rest in our composter, the worms love the warm grain. The 6-9 cups are frozen in 3 cup...

    My Picobrew Thread

Baja, Thanks for sharing. A quick question, in the pictures below of the PB RC, it shows that you are using the Z High Efficiency mash. But the RC print function does not show the actual Advanced Editor vales, just the default. Are you using different values? :mug: Stefan

    My Picobrew Thread

Take a look at YouTube (or PicoBrew.com) videos. Annie suggested using a coil chiller "inside-out", i.e. sending the wort through the coil, while it stands in a bucket of ice. I just switched to that method, reduced chilling from 45-75 minutes standing the keg in ice water to 20-35 minutes! I...
