Rice hulls wouldn't do much in an extract batch. Are you sure they don't mean flaked rice? But even flaked rice needs to be mashed, so that might not do much either.

Once when we couldn't find a bottle opener we used a flag bracket. Worked perfectly. Except then we got drunk and lost it so I never got the flag put up. :drunk:

So last night I just realized I had added 4lbs brown sugar instead of 2lbs. I was wondering why it was taking so long. Checked about a week ago and it was at 1.010. I used montrachet, I am assuming this will be drinkable I will just let it sit longer. But does anyone know how this will turn out...

I started watching deals at the liquor store and bought pry offs that were on sale. Allowed me to try a bunch of different beers that I might not have picked up as well. Also, might be worth checking with some liquor stores. One by me sells old cases of the returnable bottles for $1 a case.

I might be wrong, can't find what I read before. But IIRC, PET/PETE only leeches chemicals if they get really hot (like leaving water bottles in your car in the summer) or after very long storage. Since most beer is only in the bucket for 3-4 weeks it is not a long enough time to leech anything...

You really think no commercial brewer has ever started as a homebrewer? Most start as homebrewers, that is why they start a commercial brewery. And I am not going to do the research now, but if it was legal to put "Homebrewed" on the label someone would have done it by now.

The problem is alcohol is regulated more than most people realize. You even have to have your labels approved, and good luck getting away with putting "homebrewed" on there. If it was legal, someone would have already tried it.

1) Yes, most craft beer started as homebrew at some point. 2) Nothing. Once comercially produced it is not home brew, I already buy craft beer all the time. 3) Nothing. Paying any amount for homebrewed beer is illegal. 4) Money and time.

You shouldn't have to worry about bottle bombs, if anything the top will just pop off. Some people with bench cappers use twist offs with no problems. If you are worried you can go through them all and try to pry off with your thumb. If none pop off you should be fine.
