    Also for maple flavor use a lower grade syrup, like grade B, I think thats no 2. The darker the syrup the more flavorful it will be after fermenting.

    The sourness I guess went away or I just don't notice it anymore. I think just drinking it over time I don't mind it anymore. Given that it's a porter though I'm leaving it for a few more months and seeing the result.

    I think he means that they don't say what kind of ale they are making. Are they making a porter or a wit or pale ale, maybe a belgian variety or a wheat beer? Saying you are making an ale doesn't really help figure out the problem.

    I think it's gonna be bitter party on Friday, I'm bringing my Special Bitter along as well. We're not going to have taste buds after a bitter and two IIPAs.
