    S.G. on a Digital Refractometer

The same site has a "Digital Sugar Refractometer For General Purpose" which might work better for wort/beer measurements. Sorry if this is 5 months late. http://www.technodepot.com/product/view/product/milwaukee-instruments-ma871-digital-sugar-refractometer-for-general-purpose-with-atc

    Primary fermentation Pressures

What is the reason for adding addition pressure, apart from a CO2 blanket that could be at atmospheric pressure. How does pressure change the fermentation of yeast? Does a higher pressure force more anaerobic activity from the yeast? More off-flavors from esters? I've heard at high pressures...

    fixing a stall

Craveji I haven't tasted it. I haven't had to drain any for a reading, because I have a hydrometer floating in the carboy. I tired to keep it at 154F with propane. Unionrdr It has been holding at 1.024 for at least 5 days.

    fixing a stall

I tried heating and swirling, but it hasn't done anything. I raised the temperature to 80 then let it drop to 76 for more than two days. questions: Should I add some fermentables? So current I have ~5 gallons with a gravity of 1.024 and a target of 1.014 (OG=1.060). White labs says the...

    fixing a stall

I had good fermentation going, 1" krausen and popping airlock. I tried swirling, but the motions are limited with a dry airlock. I'll put a bung in it and really give it a shake. Thanks for the amazingly quick reply.

    sanitizing and repitching?

I'm current reading 1.04 and my OG reading was a misread. It was touching the bottom. The FG for this beer is 1.013 @ 5.1%. It hasn't really been working for three days. The yeast worked noticeably for about 8-12 hours. That would be some super awesome yeast if they finished. I pitched one...

    sanitizing and repitching?

Background I made a brew for the first time. It was a clone of hitachino white nest ale. I thought I had foaming sanitizer, but it was actually line cleaner. I still used the line cleaner, but I had to wash it out with tap water. I prepared my yeast early, so they sat for roughly 5 hours at...
