Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

How was it with the extra pound of oats? Just curious.

Crystal Hops, what to do with them?

You could send them to me... :) Actually, I just brewed a Bam Biere clone from CYBI (don't know if you're into that type of thing) that uses Crystal exclusively. Oh and Stone's Levitation has a crystal addition.

Black Fly Beer Camp in the Adirondacks

Any other HBT'ers going this weekend? Edit: For those not familiar with it: http://www.greatcampsagamore.org/events/beermaking-camp.html

    Victory Summer Love

Please take this with a grain of salt, but I definitely pick up a citra character in this years beer. I think that I'd throw some in at the end of the boil or use it to dry hop. If it's not citra, I'd love to know what "that" is...

    21A Bitter American

I've never tried the original, but I really love this recipe. I used half and half Golden Promise/US 2 row, subbed vienna for munich and used C-10 w/ C-60 instead of C-20/40. The hops are really nice in this beer and I think something to think about is to drink this one early. Mash high!

    Holy shizz I love bitter

Not English, but I brewed the BYO clone of Bitter American and it tastes great! People can't believe that it's 4%.

    De Ranke XX Bitter question

Brewed this yesterday, 80% Pils, 10% Pale, 10% Sugar. Pitched a starter of harvested yeast into 1.056 OG wort @ 64 deg. Woke up this morning to find a nice krausen. Side note, did not strain or filter out any hops into the primary. It's amazing how much trub I'm going to get with this one...

    Bottle vs. Keg?

I'll agree with Yooper on this, I jumped into kegging prematurely and didn't realize how important a fridge/freezer is to store them. Presently, I don't have room for a fridge, so the spring/summer/early fall is bottle-only. All of those kegs sit empty for roughly half of the year. Luckily...

    De Ranke XX Bitter question

Thanks for the follow up, I too will be brewing this with harvested yeast this weekend although I'm going to use strisselspalt instead of hallertauer in my 60 min/20 min additions. I only have enough hallertauer for a big dose at the end. I've got a slurry from last September that I'm going...

    $1500 water bill in Florida

To each their own, but I really don't get the lawn thing. I'm in the camp of, if nature won't support it, it probably doesn't belong. Green lawns in the desert SW really puzzle me when water is such a precious commodity in the west. But hey, if you're willing to pay for it...

    Busch clone recipe anyone?

I'd recommend that you look at recipes for Light American Lagers. There is a nice recipe section here on HBT with the more popular recipes receiving star ratings. If you're feeling up to it, maybe switch it up on him with a Classic American Pilsner. Best of luck to you, from what I hear light...

Wyeast 1332 (Northwest Ale) - should be retired

I can't say that I've used 1332, but I think the exact same thing about the tartness of Notty, although it works well in a dry stout.

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

2nd attempt, great beer! Brian, I don't know if you've answered this but, what was your inspiration for the hopping schedule? Willy and Chinook? You're a crazy man!

    Good Commercial Saison Examples?

Just had this for the first time, and while being nothing like what I expected, I enjoyed the sweet and tart, raisiny experience. Totally different than any other saison I've ever had. Dupont is my favorite though.

    Wanted: Ghettoblaster Clone Recipe

Did you ever have any success cloning this beer? I would love to hear your recipe, I know that it is lighter in color than any English Mild that I've ever brewed.

help save tart pale ale for party

Do you have one of those metal tea balls? You can fill it with hops and drop it in to the keg.

    Almost First Brew

You're in a tough spot for temp control given that you live in an apt and live in humid Houston. I think that your idea about using a tub with ice is probably the best you're going to be able to do on the cheap. Maybe a full bathtub would be even better so that you'd have a larger mass of...
