    Mild Steel

Mild steel is awesome. Easy to work with, and strong as hell. Unless I were building a serious +20bbl commercial brewery I would use it for any structural component.

    600 dollars LATER

That's how it was done in the old days :fro:

Stainless Steel 15 gallon pot....should i drill into it for valve?

There are other options if you don't want to drill it. You could always siphon out of it or use an aspirator. I have used a siphon hose to handle my wort to fermenter transfer for years.

    World's First Solar Homebrew Beer

Pretty cool! Next time try it out here in the west :) You could brew 300 days out of the year :P

    Anyone bought a pump-n-seal recently?

Oh hey thanks for pointing out your post! I had no idea a brake vacuum pump was so strong. Maybe I'll swing by the hardware store on my way home... How well do your hops keep? (assuming you're using it for hops)

    Anyone bought a pump-n-seal recently?

What's to say a hand pump is any different than an electric pump when it comes to vacuum sealing a jar? Probably companies that make electric pumps lol... I've been half heartedly looking for a pump to use with the foodsaver "jar" apparatus.

Looking for a smaller kegging option HELP!

I know from a friends explosive disaster that growlers cannot handle the pressure involved with bottle/keg sugar priming. DO NOT TRY THIS!! However they would handle serving pressure just fine. It would be interesting to build a screwcap with I/O on it.... hmmm maybe even a pressure relief...

    Underground Aging

Imagine if you bought a house and came across a stash like that ......:cross:

    Vegas or Brewing Stuff

$100 bones don't go very far in Vegas, you'll spend it in 2 hours. $100 of beer equipment will enrich your life for many years to come..... Also I'm not a gambler so my opinion is horrendously biased :)

Brewing with electric questions plus ideas

Man I'm in the same boat... but with 60 amps.... I think there may be some kind of law on it's way that will force our power company to upgrade systems older than 65 years... The meter will cost almost as much as doing all the house wiring and panel? Right.... I think I was quoted 5g's for...

    It's time to burn!

Those both look beastly... I've heard the burner with the individual nozzles don't adjust as well as the casted burners that have air shutters. Lots of people here use them though with no problems. The first burner looks like a part of a jet engine. 100k btu's is reallllly big also. I'd...

    Grain storage in trash cans?

It's probably just that I'm jealous of everyone's vacuum sealers :) I really need to get one to deal with bulk hops.... My parents get pissed after I keep theirs for 2-3 months out of the year....

    Grain storage in trash cans?

Just store each sack in its own trash bag and throw them all in the can? Really grain storage doesn't require a vacuum sealer.... Just make sure you take the right can to the curbside when you're nice and groggy on Tuesday morning. Edit: Actually you may want to do some research on grain...

    Backyard Brewpub

Ok now that I can visualize it in entirety I'm jealous... Looks like a great plan! I'm from Crowley and have lots of family in the BTR area... You really do need your own pool and brew/play house during the summers... or anytime for that matter :)

Window A/C unit using extension cord and power strip

Oh yea definitely not trying to anger anyone here. A house fire is nothing to glance over and I'm sorry that Reedwalker had to go through the ordeal of losing a home. I'm kinda curious about this fire thing... I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not an expert on power engineering and I could...

Window A/C unit using extension cord and power strip

I'm not a fire marshall, but I am an EE. I worked in the industrial field before I moved on to IC world. There's no mysticism here. besides the wiring in the wall being solid core and the extension cord being stranded, there really isn't anything else. In the scheme of things the extension...

Window A/C unit using extension cord and power strip

If the wiring inside the wall caught fire then the extension cord probably wasn't the problem... Heat only builds if you encounter a resistance in the wire, this can happen at plugs/etc if they start to break down. A fire inside the wall is usually caused by breakdown of the wire or a bad...

Window A/C unit using extension cord and power strip

Window a/c's are designed and meant to be ran on run of the mill 15amp setups. You may not want to run a hair dryer/space heater on the same breaker while the unit is on.... You'll be fine, just use 15amp rated stuff (basically anything you'll find at the hardware store). There's no issue with...

    Cleaning Sanke with BB's?

Haha I've used this method on motorcycle gas tanks for rust removal... It will work statistically... but it may take a while, and a tumbler that size would be a site to see.
