How old were you when you started to homebrew?

Started at 19... was a god then to my friends. 24 now, and just some guy who doesn't like to bring 5 gal batches to parties anymore.

Someone wants to use one of my braukaiser.com photos

As long as your wording can't be interpreted incorrectly, you are fine. Btw your pages on yeast culturing are excellent!

    100 gallons...

There are other options. I would check usplastics. This polypro tank is fairly cheap... Tamco® Polypropylene High Temperature Tanks, 50 Gallon and Up - US Plastic Corporation Edit: correction it's spendy as hell, but is lab grade

    100 gallons...

Hmmmm yea that stinks... HDPE or #2 plastic is always food safe in it's raw form. But if the added dyes or softening agents are not food safe then you're out of luck. I'm sure you can find something that will work!

    Hurricane burner dimensions?

Ok, I figured someone would've helped you out by now... I'll measure mine when I get home (really).

    100 gallons...

Most plastics are inert by chemical structure. It's not like you can cut corners and save money to make some product out of a dangerous plastic substance. I'm not certain of this but I think polyethylene is still one of the cheapest if not the cheapest plastic to bulk manufacture. Basically...

How much weight can a stir plate hold

Why not just use a stainless steel stirrer like you see in huge mix tanks? http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/variant.asp?catalog_name=USPlastic&category_name=39&product_id=5874&variant_id=23100 That would do the trick Edit: can't get the link to work its part #23100 I'm sure you could diy one...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

The temp controller has a "heat" mode also. The power strip inside the cabinet is powered by the controller, so I'll just set it to heat, plug in a space heater, and shut off the ac. In the fall our temps here range from 30-75 over the course of a day so I'll have to play that by ear. I'll...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

Thanks! If the garage is at 90F it will cycle around twice an hour for 3 or so minutes. So in cooling mode it seems fairly efficient. We'll see in a couple of months how it does with heating. I went a little overboard with the door gasket. It has 3/4" of gasket thickness to seal to so the...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

I used a lux temp controller that I picked up locally for $30 and a 5000btu ac unit I picked up on c-list for $50. The temp controller does hot and cold so in the winter I'll plug in a space heater and control that way. All in all this ran me about $120 all together. I have 10 gallons in it...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

I debated at length as to how much insulation I should use. My kitchen fridge/freezer is insulated with a little over an inch of injected polyisocyanurate which provides something around R8. An inch of extruded polystyrene yields around R5. Add that to half inch plywood with both sides...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

Ok, onward. This is my quick and dirty method to bypass the thermostat. I used a piece of copper sheet to make the connection between the two spade connectors. I also had to cut the stock plug assembly off. It kept throwing its internal breaker about 20% of the time my temp controller...

    LeBoeuf's fermentation cabinet

After 4 years or so of brewing wild, temperature uncontrolled beer I've decided that I need a fermentation dedicated, temperature controlled closet. I have this huge box that was left by the PO of my house. It looks like it was used as a locker or something. Anyway I'll be re-purposing...

    New Take On Freezer Conversion

Your idea with the relay and home thermostat will work just fine. Just remember that you need to supply low voltage to the thermostat relay so that it can turn on the external relay. All in all though you made a good decision, there are so many temp controllers out there that are cheaper than...

    RIMS Build

That BCS controller looks too cool for school. Any idea who made the chip inside the PLC?
