    cheap cider problem

Yes all the sugar will be converted into alcohol pretty quickly, and it is drinkable after a couple of weeks. But depending on your recipe and the temperature you ferment at, letting you cider age will benefit a lot. I like my cider better after a couple of months.

Kegs arriving in 2 days, need a plan

For you first point: amoung the 4 kegs I got from them, only 2 were clean, and the other two were not spotless either. Get used to take them apart, lube the o-rings, and put them back together. It won't hurt, and you can make sure that everything is there and clean.

    Kit or Seperate Parts

On the kegconnection site, click on any product, then click on the tab "Detailed Description" to have a more explicit explanation. Basically they offer different quality of kegs. For the converted ball lock kegs: those were pin locks kegs, but their posts have been replaced with ball lock...

    cheap cider problem

if I am not mistaken, 2 cups of sugar weights around 1#. This is a lot for 20oz of juice! So what happened is probably the alcohol content got so high that the yeast simply died. As a result, you have both alcohol and unfermented sugar. Check out the recipes here to help you design your...

    Beer line too long?

+1. The lower carbonation that you taste can either come from the fact that you are used to higher level of carbonation (if you drink a lot of belgium beer for example), or from your setup: make sure that the probe of your temperature controller is not sitting on a cooling line, or too low in...

Getting ready to keg - A little overwhelmed

This is not a good example to give to people starting kegging. Unless you drink your beer in a week, 5psi will not hold the carbonation at a regular level. Yes it works for you, but this is misinformation for most.

Kegs arriving in 2 days, need a plan

Oh, another one: * check for leaks. If it is on the gas side, you will just have to refill your tank. But if it is on the beer side, you will end up cleaning a mess.

Kegs arriving in 2 days, need a plan

Here are some advice: * Regarding the cleaning: if it is brand new, rinse and sanitize. If it is used (kegs I guess), take apart, clean thoroughly, rinse, sanitize. Kegging might be new, but you are a brewer right ? I am sure you know what should be cleaned and how :-) * For the...

    Kit or Seperate Parts

I got a kit from kegconnection. It was great, already assembled, without any leak. But I realized later that the beer lines were too short. So get a kit, but ask them to put 10ft of beer line per tap instead of 5. The parts they use for the kits are exactly the same you would get if you chose...

Thoughts on this complete brewery setup

Here we get the white lab vial for $7. It means that the sculpture the OP would pay $1100 over there would cost $700 in the US. For a gravity fed sculpture with 3 pots, all the connections and a chiller, it sounds good!

Thoughts on this complete brewery setup

It is hard to tell without knowing what the prices are over there. Edit: If you compare to the price from morebeer, it is pretty good.

    My keezer build

Yes it is possible that they are making the hump smaller now!

    My keezer build

I hope you are right! With the disconnect on top, and the fact that the lid takes half an inch of the height (I think, since I do not use it), it might be tight. For the paint, I am still very happy with the brand I chose. It was rustoleum "painter's touch" paint. You have a better selection...

    My keezer build

this freezer is great. I can fit 4 ball locks and a 2.5# tank of CO2. I am just concerned with the choice you made for the collar size. 2x6 might not be enough if you want to put a keg on the hump. Are you using ball lock or pin lock kegs ?

    Keezer build question

Mine is small and on wheels, so it is very easy to move it around and away from the wall. But otherwise, you could simply flip it, it might just not look nice to have the hinges visible.

arringtonbp, you were right, it was the kirkland brand. Very happy with the results.

    Best pasteurized apple juices.

    Best pasteurized apple juices.

I use the one from costco, but I forgot the brand. It is organic pasteurized juice. I have good results with it.

Recommendations - Best Comprehensive Equipment Kit

It is not an easy question to answer without more details: * do you plan on brewing 10gallon batches ? * you say you want to purchase the right things now, but as you may have seen on the forum, some peolpe keep it simple with BIAB, or a simple bucket/carboy as fermenter. Some other people go...
