    Cold crashing question:

So, to be clear, you ferment primary, sit in secondary, cold crash (a couple of days), then keg? Do you keep the keg cold? Or bring the keg back up to ferm temp for conditioning/aging?

That recipe looks great! I think I'll start there and see how I can tune it. Thanks! (Unless someone has actually found the recipe for Blackened Hops) :D

    Need a recommendation for a Cascadian/American Black

So, I'm cyber stalking Rodney, the creator of Longshot Blackened hops American Black for a recipe. But I have not yet been successful. From what I gathered the style is more commonly called Cascadian Black. I'm dying to make one of these and hoping it comes out like that amazing beer Rodney...

Slow but steady fermentation for a higher OG beer... normal?

I'm still new at this, but I've done a lot of reading. It seems to me that X amount of yeast can consume sugar at a rate of Y, as a constant. Higher OG beers have a lot more sugar to eat, so it will take longer to build the colony big enough to tackle it. That's why a lot of people recommend...

    New Brewer with Hefeweizen Question

I used wyeast 3068 for my franziskaner clone. Excellent banana and clove flavor. Had a crisp clean finish. There is another heff strain from wyeast, but I don't know anything about it.

    Sam Adams Longshot American Black

Ok, I tried this beer from a longshot six pack and fell deeply in love and want to make it my next brew. Has anyone tried this or know a similar style or recipe that I could start from? Thanks!

    Another Texan

Lumpher, I just recently brewed my first american red. It was supposed to be a clone of Yukon Arctic Red that I randomly tried from a recipe book. But I made a happy mistake and used less water than the recipe called for, so it concentrated about 10% or so and MAN IS IT AWESOME. It's my...

Well welcome Jenna! You'll find a lot of good folks here who have been more than willing to answer any stupid question I have had! Bdeck - are you part of an association around here? I'd really like to get in with some other brewers to learn with and bounce ideas off of!

conditioning bottles on thier sides, oxidized?

So, my first batch, a franzaskaner clone was ready for drinking today. But after tasting it, i got my first taste of the "wet cardboard". I'm really disappointed, but determined to find out the cause and do better next time. I was careful when transferring to my bottling bucket, i only left...

I been on the forum a while, but never actually introduced myself. My name's Justin, I'm 28. I live in The Colony, just north of dallas (suburb) and I been in to brewing for about 8 months or so now. But most of that time was spent researching and gathering equipment. I'm one of those...

Ok, so I downloaded Brewer's Assistant for my android phone, but I can not figure out how to import recipes (beerxml). There doesn't seem to be an "import" button anywhere I can find. Can someone help me out?
