Really annoyed... First batch has had 2 gushers and a bad finish

Cool man thanks. I just bought an aluminum pot for my bigger partial boils, and did the oxidizing layer, but haven't used it yet for anything other than filling my swamp cooler with a lot of water... ...But based on that post I'm expecting (and hoping) it works great. :tank:

Really annoyed... First batch has had 2 gushers and a bad finish

I don't believe the aluminium pot theory would be true, given the Aluminum Pot FAQ on this very forum:

    Confused on Good Extract Procedure

I've heard a bit about the extract late method (about to try it on my next batch) on the Basic Brewing podcast, and Chris Colby from BYO advocating it. I found a good reference for this method (link) as well as a description below Also... I just learned this myself, so just in case...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just finished brewing this up. Been looking forward to making this for a long time. Ended up pretty close to the recipe, just used 3oz Carapils instead of Torrified Wheat (not sure what the ratio correction was for this, but I just gauged it off of what I saw others in the thread doing)...

can chilling beer in any way cause off flavors

Depends on the beer and your tastes really doesn't it? I saw an "ideal serving temperature" on the site somewhere... oh here it is. Anyways, try it at different temperatures though and find what's right for your tastes. Experimentation is fun when there's alcohol involved and nowhere to go!

    Cooper's Pilsner + Fruit?

I'm doing something similar to what you're doing now for my second batch (I've ever made), using the Cooper's Canadian Blonde in primary with 5 lb of fruit and 1/3 lb honey. I pureed the strawberries and pasteurized the fruit and honey before adding everything to the wort. Had a few...

    schwarzbier recipe

Seconded. I had this when I was 16 in Germany and it became my favorite, now I'm nearly twice that age and it still I look for it every time I visit a liquor store. It's tough to find in the US, but if you do it's totally worth it.

    Coopers IPA Kit brew Question

Yeah the PDF is mostly the unhopped extract, there are a few from the no boil kits as well (towards the bottom I believe). Also, I forgot about this (food n beer) recipe list from makebeer.net, which is an American importer of Coopers. Yeah that flash is annoying btw. Same with the age...

    Coopers IPA Kit brew Question

There are ways to modify the extract with Coopers. I've done a bit of research since I just made my first beer myself (with the help of the Coopers that is, which makes it pretty damn easy if you ask me). Anyway, I'm easing myself into PG then AG but for now I'm satisfied trying a little bit...
