Changing o-ring while keg is already carbonated??

When I said "wonky", tearing the ring surface is exactly it. I sometimes end up with o-rings that have the outer diameter reduced by perfectly tearing all the way around to become smaller in diameter. They are wet from sanitizing, but keg lube and not overtightening would be better bets.

Changing o-ring while keg is already carbonated??

This is pretty great info on the dip tube o-ring. I always assumed that it that o-ring were bad, beer would leak out from under the post, but as long as that weren't happening, things are okay. I have two kegs that were both from the same batch and were bulk carbonated in the conical. The...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

No harm at all in supplying power directly to the Arduino even if that fixed your problem. As someone who chased power problems for a long time in my setup, low or unsteady power supplies cause all sorts of crazy errors like what you're experiencing.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

The feature is already there. When you assign a one-wire probe, during the configuration of the probe you have the option of including a temperature offset. If you're trying to configure an installed probe, unassign it and then reassign it to add the offset.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

You indicate that you're connecting the sensor to your Pi. Is that really what you are doing, or are you connecting it to your Arduino?

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

When you're fermenting using a beer profile, is there a way to see where you are in the current profile?

For those that are on the fence buying the new Spike Conical

Yep, it's the 28" wide model. I looked at the 27" model and thought that I could make it work but didn't want to chance it because of the shipping cost of the refrigerator. I don't want to steer you wrong in case it doesn't work. I especially liked the compact height of that one. The sign...

For those that are on the fence buying the new Spike Conical

Sorry for the slow response to this question. I wasn't comfortable that I could fit the conical into the True GDM-12, so I ended up going bigger with the Turbo Air 22. It is perfect in the side to side and front to back dimensions. It does have about 3 feet of extra space above the conical...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

My Pi was pretty devoid of other uses and was just my brewery Pi, so I wiped the SD card, freshly installed NOOBS Stretch, and then tried to install Fermentrack. I get the NGINX gateway error. On initial install and even after running the install.sh script, I get the following error in the...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hey @Thorrak, I'm having a bit of a problem with Tilt support. I just updated to the latest version of Fermentrack. I also updated two of my controllers to the latest firmware for the esp. I'm on a stock Stretch install on a Pi Model 2B. When I go to the Tilt page, it gives me the error that...

Help needed with the water chemistry

@ajdelange gave me a similar recommendation a couple of years ago when I first bought my Hach meter. I went around the house measuring everything. Orange juice, spaghetti sauce, milk, tap water, beer, you name it. Just rinse with DI water after each measurement and stick the meter back in the...

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

This post reminds me of posts where new people refer to @Yooper as a dude.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Try using the other options to flash instead of the NodeMCU. I seem to remember that at least one of my clones didn't work with that flash option.

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

Definitely don't go with the Alamode board. The Arduino is bullet proof. If you want to use the 3b+, make friends with @kcolby as he is working on the version of pints that works with Raspbian Stretch.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

In the interest of science and because I needed another beer, I went out and put my fermenter back together. Including the thick stainless cap on top. And the Pi is picking up the Tilt no problem. It is probably only 10 feet away, but it is through the stainless wall of the fermenter and...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

The BrewPi controller is a great first build for a Raspberry Pi. You can make it as easy or as complicated as you want. If you want to go easy, get an Uno or an esp8266 and all of the parts listed on the first page of this thread. You can even use wire nuts instead of the wiring block shown...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

It was me. My Tilt is now working. I haven't contacted you yet with the fix because I haven't been able to pinpoint what happened. The thing is, I don't know how long it wasn't working before I discovered that it wasn't working. In order to test it, I threw it into a glass of water into my...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Unless you already have the second Uno, I'd look at using an esp8266 d1 mini or the like. @Thorrak has made setup on those little guys flawless. You can get Bluetooth to work on the Uno with a separate Bluetooth chip, but it can be a little fiddley.
