Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

Yeah, I thought about putting them at 10:30 and 1:30 (45 degrees either side towards the back) which would partially hide them... but this also isn't going against a wall or anything... it's going to be in the center of the kitchen, so it's a bit unavoidable to see them. Clearance under the...

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

Received my first batch of equipment today. Get most of the rest tomorrow. Pictured is the 36 quart stainless steel stockpot w/steamer basket, two 1500W/120V Extra low density heating elements, loc-line, stainless steel mesh, a stainless steel tube (to be used as the dip tube) and a coupler...

Just got ten 120V 25A SSR's on ebay for $30!

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

I ordered some loc-line. I'm going to try and use it to assist with a lot of things... could possibly do whirlpooling with it, clean in place, etc. I think it'll be pretty useful. I also ordered some SS mesh and some SS wire. I'm going to try to stitch a basket together that can fill more of...

    Countertop Single Vessel Brewery!

Not sure what arrangement you're going to end up with, but what about hooking up a pipe to the output that you can just run everything through your CFC and share that between your Unibrew 5500 and this. Use that to cool the wort and don't worry about immersion/loss of volume/etc.

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

@Harkin: I'll look at adding in a rims tube later once I get an idea of how well this works (and once my wallet recovers a little bit). The voile curtain is a good idea. I was also thinking that I could make a custom mesh basket that goes around the heating elements, dip tube and sensor...

    Countertop Single Vessel Brewery!

6000W heating element would be 1500W on 120V power. P = V^2*R, with R constant. Oh and good luck, this could be a fun project.

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

Thanks for the tip on the heating element. When you said they were a bit more expensive, I wasn't expecting only $20, that's not bad. I went ahead and ordered them. What would building a rims tube get me for this kind of setup?

+1 reserved Pictures will be stored on my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/martz/sets/72157624363961825/ I'll post some good ones in these first two posts, nothing yet though... just equipment.

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

ScubaSteve's build was definitely an inspiration: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/single-vessel-all-electric-ns-nc-brewery-158608/ Mine is basically going to be the bastardized mini-version of his that won't look as good. My brew process is going to be basically the same. I've ordered a 36...

Single Vessel, All Electric, NS, NC Brewery

This might be off topic, but why the switch to fermenting in cornies? I thought about doing it myself so I could pressure transfer into a secondary and then into the final keg, but couldn't really justify it. Are there other advantages?

Single Vessel, All Electric, NS, NC Brewery

Originally it sounded like you were going to be draining from the bottom, but from recent pictures it looks like you're going for side drainage, as low as possible. Is that correct? Your sketchup models from a page or two ago only show the outside... could you show some sketches of the...

Single Vessel, All Electric, NS, NC Brewery

(Still reading through the thread) Have you put any more thought into this... Ideally I'd like to make a brew rig that will do 1.5-5 gallon batches off of 110V (possibly/probably off of two 110V on different breakers). My goal would be to optimize recipes by doing variations... so Month A I'd...

Dual Electric Build - feedback requested

Yeah they are the adjustable kind... Just picked up two $15 fifth burners from amazon. They got decent ratings, and if it doesn't work out they were cheap enough that i don't mind. I do plan on upgrading at some point to a higher power immersion element, but i wouldn't be able to use two of...

Dual Electric Build - feedback requested

Hey, I'm going to be building an all electric build, but I haven't seen one quite like this before. I live in a small apartment (high-rise) and we're not allowed to have grills or anything like that on our balconies (hence, electric). I thought about making an electric kettle and...
