    I had a faint wheat odor in my Ale Pail after I soaked in Oxy for half a day, but after I took the lid off and let it air for a day, it faded. No worries. Brew on, chap.

    Question on Milk Stouts and the like....

    Lactose is essentially milk sugar which helps add some sweetness to milk stouts. Concern one for me would be providing an equivalent amount of lactose contained in the powdered milk, and two, does the powdered milk still contain any fats that could give off tastes to the beer? I would play it...

    Eh. RDWHAHB. My first batch was hefeweizen that also fermented at higher than optimal temperatures. The esters are a bit high for my liking. But hell, it's drinkable and I made it, dammit! So in the bottles they go! Aaaand I'm also building a fermentation chiller so it doesn't happen again.

    +1 Light Of The Moon. I've a quick sketch that I plopped on a piece of paper for a logo or label that comes to mind when I think on this. I'm on my way out the door right now, but I will try to illustrate it when I get back. Would you prefer crecent moon or full moon?

    Finally making something...

    good on ya. I started out with a couple gallons of juice that comes in their own glass gallon jars so I didn't have to buy much beyond a bung and airlock.

    LHBS has a couple of grain crushers on hand. One old one that's powered by an electric drill, and a newer (and much quieter) mill that uses a small electric motor. Both I think are hand built.

    Google search for wire bottle carrier turns up a lot of stuff, but it seems most sellers of similar items are in Europe. I did find this one, but a bit pricey for my taste. There are a lot more products out there for toting wine bottles.

    Proofing with a bit of wort similar to your recipe is a good idea if you are making a starter.

    Is it a branded yeast packet? Pitching dry yeast is not uncommon, but might contradict instructions given by the yeast manufacturer.
