    BYO Double Pipe Wort Chiller

Rather than agitate the flowing water it should be more effective to agitate the flowing wort, a la the convoluted chillers. There was another setup similar to this in a Zymurgy issue a while back I believe. That setup was implemented with some strips of copper perhaps 4-6" long and just...

    BYO Double Pipe Wort Chiller

Referring back to my post in this thread that links to a similar build I did back in January - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/byo-double-pipe-wort-chiller-428922/index2.html#post5585395 - here are some numbers I captured at that time. Note that I was whirlpooling as I chilled, so I don't have...

Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

Hello Walter - I'm working on some plumbing changes on my brewing setup, and one of the things I'm looking at is having a valve that would allow me to supply fresh water from the faucet directly to the center inlet of my 815 SS pump. The pump would not be turned on and its output would feed...

    BYO Double Pipe Wort Chiller

I built something similar back in January, and I can confirm it works quite well. Here's mine for reference: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=296442#296442 The only issue I've had was the JB Weld that holds the copper in place in those photos wants to leak during...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Well I finally got it out of the box today, and a quick check with 3 ball locks that I shuffled around shows 14 kegs on the floor plus 2-3 on the hump (3 if one built a support at the edge). So with no gas bottles this baby will hold 16-17 kegs! The height of the hinge brackets dictates a 2x10...

how to keep the inside of a fridge warmer in cold weather???

I put together one of these a couple of months ago and it works perfectly to keep my kegerator temp up to 38 when it's extra cold in the garage: http://www.wortomatic.com/articles/Fermentation-Can-Heater There are couple of pictures of my setup here...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

So my Frigidaire 24.9cf FGCH25M8LW was delivered by Lowe's this morning, and it's sitting in the box in my garage. As soon as I get a chance I'll get you the actual dimensions of the beast if you want 'em...

    Chest Freezer Specs and Layouts

Not sure if this is of any use to you, but I'm working on my plan for this Frigidaire, so attached is what I have so far. I'm going to have a collar so I have not accounted for interior height at all.

15 Gal Blichmann False Bottom Diameter?

I just brewed my 3rd batch on my new electric setup yesterday, a system based on the one over at http://theelectricbrewery.com. I started brewing back in '92 and used propane for my all-grain setup for about 10 years. I've been on a brewing hiatus for a while so I jumped back in with an all...

15 Gal Blichmann False Bottom Diameter?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to do the measurement! That sounds like it could be a good fit for my MLT, recognizing I'll have to do some tweaking to get it working. I am familiar with their setup, and I'm starting to wish I'd bit the bullet and just bought a 15 gallon BoilerMaker for my...

15 Gal Blichmann False Bottom Diameter?

I'm thinking about giving it a try in my Bayou Classic 62qt MLT. My current perforated false bottom is 15-9/16" in diameter and is also a very tight fit. Thanks for the quick reply!

15 Gal Blichmann False Bottom Diameter?

Just wondering if someone on the forum who owns a 15 gallon Blichmann false bottom could give me a exact measurement of its diameter? I know the Blichmann web site shows a sidewall diameter of 15.7", but I need the actual measurement of one of the false bottoms. Thanks, Kevin

Hoppo's Rustic Motorized Grain Mill Cabinet and Grain Storage Bin

FWIW here's a pic of my mill setup. My motor is sitting on a longer board that's "hinged" at the front where it's held in place with 3 long wood screws and washers that pass through oversized holes and are loosely attached. I'm thinking I could drill through the board just in front of the...

Hoppo's Rustic Motorized Grain Mill Cabinet and Grain Storage Bin

VERY nice looking mill Hoppopotomus! Makes my new grain mill station seem rather boring! I too used motor weight to tension a la my table saw, but I like your spring tensioner addition. I think I may have to borrow that! :D

    Copper-in-PVC Counterflow Chiller

Thanks. Functional too once I add hooks, etc for hanging kettle lids and such.

    Copper-in-PVC Counterflow Chiller

Thanks, and no they're not. Hard to tell from the pics maybe, but there are 3 pairs in there with each tee ripped in half on my table saw. They're just snapped on to the pipe to add some structural support.

    Copper-in-PVC Counterflow Chiller

Huge it is at over 5' long, but it'll be tucked away under the top of my brew stand... That old workbench is 6' long so the CFC will almost be hidden! :)

    Copper-in-PVC Counterflow Chiller

Our groundwater temps here in Fort Collins, CO stay pretty cold in the summertime so I'm hoping I'll get good results then too. But just in case I need more cooling I left the water outlet extra long so that I could add on a more modules (thanks for that - I like that description!). I think I...

    Copper-in-PVC Counterflow Chiller

This one is based on a couple of the all copper straight run versions I've seen online, only this one uses PVC and copper. The wort flows through 1/2" rigid copper pipe with 1/2" ID silicone tubing for the loop backs. The water flows through 1" PVC pipe and fittings. The ends of the PVC tees...
