Help Me Choose My Next Beer Glass

Thanks all. I think I’m going to go with the Willi Becher. The ones I see available are 16oz, a little larger than I was hoping for, but I suppose I’ll just have to drink and brew more beer to fill them.

You Know You've Spent Too Much Time on HBT When...

@AlexKay After I typed out the post, I realized I had no reason to think you were female in real life. But you definitely were in my dream... my apologies.

You Know You've Spent Too Much Time on HBT When...

I had a dream last week in which I heard a phone ringing from inside the piano at my church. It was @Broken Crow calling, trying to reach @AlexKay. I tried explaining that I wasn't AlexKay, but that she must have lost her phone and I had found it. I wanted to find her to return her phone, but...

Help Me Choose My Next Beer Glass

Last year for Christmas my wife gave me a set of tulip glasses, custom etched with my home brewery name and logo. This year she's offered to gift me another set, in a different style/shape. I brew and drink a wide variety of ales and lagers, so I'd like something that fits a wide range, yet is...

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

Okay I just learned there's a difference between the condenser coil and the evaporator coil. (Like I said... not confident on refrigeration DIY.) So yes, @Broken Crow I did clean the condenser coil, but no @Bobby_M I did not check the evaporator coil. Side note now relevant to ice buildup on...

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

Yes I'm quite certain the compressor is on. My home office is the same space as my brewery, so I work 2' away from the kegerator every day. I'm quite familiar with the sound both with the compressor on and off. Also, the compressor felt warm when i checked it this week.

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

@Bobby_M Thanks, but no unfortunately the evaporator coil isn't iced over. I checked that already. And I actually cleaned the coils just a couple months ago, so @Broken Crow I don't think it's dust either. It's sounding more and more like a freon issue. I've ordered the recharge kit, and will...

For Sale Selling all my home brewing gear - 10 gallon 240V electrical system, keezer and more (NJ)

@bschwinn If it's still available, what brand is the grain mill? I'm hoping to start buying grains in bulk this year, directly from Deer Creek Malthouse.

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

@day_trippr I think you've convinced me to try it. The kit you recommended from Amazon is no longer available. Looking through other kits, all the adapter pieces look slightly different from one another, but I'm assuming they accomplish the same thing. I'm planning on going with this kit. You...

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

@day_trippr Thanks for the quick response. That looks like a detailed post, I'll have to find some time to read through it thoroughly and decide if that's something I'm comfortable doing. In the meantime, I've put the kegerator on a timer, 30 minutes on and 60 minutes off, to give the...

Kegerator Issue - Compressor Constantly Running

I have a Beverage Air DD50 kegerator that I got for a steal (~$150) on Craigslist last year from a bar in Philly that had closed down. It had been running great for the past year, but as of last week the compressor has started running constantly. It still maintains the 38F-40F temperature fine...

4mm Eva Barrier for blow off tube?

If he's fermenting in a keg, then a PRV is already built in. If you do a larger batch in the future and you're concerned about headspace, just add a bit of fermcap.

4mm Eva Barrier for blow off tube?

I do it successfully. I ferment 4.0 - 4.5 gallons in a 5 gallon corney keg, with 4mm ID EVAbarrier on the gas QD for a blowoff. I haven't had any issues.

    Anvil Foundry flow control

Thank you! It's a no-go for me at that price, but if I can find the parts cheaper at my hardware store or LHBS, I'll go for it. Thanks for the help.

I'm so lost. HELLLP! Just upgraded from white buckets to 10+ gallon stainless system...

Keep it simple: Remember that the only difference with all-grain brewing (compared to the extract brewing you were doing) is that you soak the grains first, for roughly 60min around 150F. Otherwise everything is the same. You've received some very helpful responses which should help you piece...

Kegerator leaking from inside the tower

Yes the line can be replaced, but more likely the connection just needs tightened. I recommend getting a draft wrench (like this one on Morebeer for $4) to get the faucet off and give yourself room to work in the tower, and to see where the lines are connected. It's simple with the right tool.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Has anyone else tried using your Foundry for temperature control during fermentation, when fermenting in kegs? A 5gal keg fits perfectly in the grain basket (to keep it off the heating element). I then fill up the Foundry with water and set it to my desired fermentation temperature. It keeps it...

    Random Picture Thread

What attachments do you use to do this? I had thought about it in the past, so as to not waste CO2, but I couldn't figure out how to make the connection.

The beer line cleaning kit with hand pump from Kegland. It's made cleaning keg lines so much easier.
