Can I ferment in plastic bucket for 3-4 weeks?

I'll find out Fri Nite when I bottle. Kit IPA from Lincolns Birthday. Haven't had time to bottle or disinfect and test. I figure either 1.020 kit curse or 1.016 on target. I'm gonna have a pint or two of the uncarbed for sure.

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

I boil my water then use my chiller to bring it back down to mash/steep temps. Smokey rubber, No. Band-Aid yes but just slightly. Saw the water analysis of my water district. didn't see chloramine.

Burned rubber-bandy aftertaste due to Extract, 3 weeks on yeast, or contamination?

I was under the assumption and Guilty of it as well, the Band-aid taste being the result of fermentation temps being too high. Am I incorrect?

    Can't take hydrometer reading...

All the reading I've done says" not a question of If but When" the hydrometer breaks in the fermenter. I'm not keen on drinking whatever metals is in the glass vial. Bought the thief,1st attempt and forgot the trub on the bottom and it clogged. Now just tilt to the side and it fills nicely. I'm...

Half of my bottles didn't carb

I had that 1/2 and 1/2 not with my stout, I siphon from the fermenting bucket and it whirlpools into the priming solution. I never stirred my other batches fearing the oxidation. Wierd! all the others carbed well, the final gravities were close, the dreaded 1.020 curse of the kit but beer was...

    overflowing through the airlock

Lower the temp of the fermentor. Swamp cooler, Fermentor in another tub, add water and toss in some frozen water bottles, 72f. is too high for me, I like 60-65f.

What kind of infection does my beer have?

I wouldn't sweat it, my smoked bourbon porter did the same thing 1 1/2 weeks in secondary. I tasted fine and that skin seemed to dissappear soon as i moved it. I did have trouble with carbonation, some 22oz. bottles were fine and some were flat but not sure if that was related to the skin on...

Another brand under A-B's Porfolio, say goodbye to Blue Point Brewing

They built a brand and sold it. Hope they have fun with their profits. Can't see BluePoint getting better being under the InBev umbrella.

    Too much head space?

Primary with good fermentation will be good. I did a secondary with too much headspace, The everchanging surface of the beer made me crazy with the what if's. Won't do that again. worked out just fine.

    Help fixing a brew?

It's not recommended to dump the beer and try to prime the batch again. Ask the LHBS for the tablets and a new set of bottle caps. Don't forget to sanitize the outside of the bottles and the new caps. I'd leave well enough alone, drink it up as is and move on to the next batch. Remember...
