Ever have a credit card number stolen???

There is one piece of this thread that sticks with me. It has been said multiple times that credit card transactions fro AHS are manually processed. This means that the complete credit card information gets sent someplace to be entered into a credit card terminal by hand. this is not...

    Bayou Classic Stock Pot warning

I just wanted to give everybody a heads up regarding the quality of the Bayou Classic 36 quart stainless steel pots. I originally ordered one of these in January from Amazon.com thinking it would be perfect for my needs, on my third brew with that pot I noticed there was a pinhole leak about...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

I would be extremely surprised if PayPal transactions were compromised, the retailer never sees the actual transaction, all they see is a deposit in their PayPal account. Having you PayPal account hacked through Phishing is another thing entirely. Heres to hoping that this gets sorted out...

Is all dogfish head beer expensive?

While I will agree that they are not necessarily the best out there I do enjoy several of their beers on a fairly regular basis, simply because there is nothing else I have found competing with them: Midas touch, Raison d' etre, Palo Santo Marron.. I need to try the 90 and 120 sometime, there is...

Just got my first real brew pot

From what I have read you may be able to get away with boiling 5 gallons in that pot if you use Fermcap-s to control the foam, as far as draining you could combine the two techniques. Whirlpool first to get most of the sediment to the center of the pot, then take advantage of the drain valve to...

    Boil Volume Question

Maybe I am overthinking this but I am wondering how I determine boil volume. I am getting ready to brew up a batch of Brewers Best Holiday Ale, the directions are laid out for a partial boil, but everything I have read indicates that a full boil is a better route to go. Based on that piece of...

    Burner/pot question

Thanks for the replies on this, I had not considered the possibility of moving to BIAB brewing when I was looking at this. Maybe I will consider a 40 quart pot and save having to upgrade in the future when I make the step from extract to BIAB, which may not be that long really. :mug: Chief

    Burner/pot question

Mind if I ask why? At my consumption rate even a 5 gallon batch is a lot of beer. I would think that 8 gallons is plenty of space for a 5 gallon boil, even with evaporative losses... Or am I way wrong on this? :mug:

    Burner/pot question

I was wondering if this (link) setup would be adequate for doing full boils on a 5 gallon batch. Thanks! :mug:

    Kit recipe question

Wow, Thanks for all of the quick replies! I appreciate the input, Yooper I think you are correct in that the additional corn sugar is intended to boost the final ABV, it is expected to finish at about 7.5% - 8.0%. I will take a look at the numbers for the 20% reduction once I get home and have...

    Kit recipe question

I am getting ready to brew my first batch and I have a couple of questions for the group. I am reading Palmers How to Brew which has cleared up quite a few things for me, unfortunately it has raised a few questions that I am trying to sort out. In the recipe kit I received as a gift from my...
