HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

FWIW, it works. No surprise really but there was some speculation a while back about whether Wheezy was required when going the laptop route. I used the install.sh script with the rpi-update part taken out of the code. I had to upgrade the ancient T23 Thinkpad to a later version of Ubuntu (went...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Wow! I'm still trying to figure out what size hole to drill in the stopper for my thermowell and how to hide a chest freezer from my wife. Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I think you can but have to have a second arduino.

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I used this technique. Once everything is in place there may not be a need for strain relief but it wasn't any more work than than soldering it strictly inline. I guess if it's good enough for aeronautical electrical work it should handle the rigors of fermenting. Todd

Vince805, is that the top to the "Radio Shack" enclosure? If not, what are you using? Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Yep. The RPi would have been the route had I not had a laptop to press into service. I may have to knuckle to my younger daughters request for her own computer though so a RPi solution may still be in the works. I was thinking of repurposing the LCD monitor of a truly defunct laptop into a...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

With the resources here and at the BrewPi site I don't think you'd have any problem completing it. If you haven't tinkered with computers and/or soldering the project could seem intimidating. I probably fall somewhere midway between 0 and BrewerJack with respect to the computer end of things and...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Dead man walking! Thanks for all the work so far. I finally got around to soldering up my electronics this weekend. Everything worked from the get go. Now, I have to scrounge the parts for the chamber, etc. I dare you to suggest brewing beer as a honeymoon activity. Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Try switching the temp probe wires (ground and data). I posted a link to the BrewPi forum that talked about this and rabeb25 had a similar problem (and a fried SD card) Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

This was on the BrewPi forum a while back. The supplier Elco was using switching the color coding of the temp probe wires. I don't recall it causing problems just that the temp probe wouldn't work. Also, I don't know whether yours could have come from the same manufacturer or have a similar...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

That BCS-460 stuff is pretty slick. I was thinking along the same lines with respect to having the BrewPi rig control multiple "chambers". My vision was to have SS immersion coils in the buckets with BrewPi activated solenoid valves controlling the flow of chilled water or glycol. Realistically...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Those project boxes usually come with a backplate so you could attach some standoffs to that and then mount your Arduino and relay board using the standoffs. Velcro would work for sure. Hot glue is too permanent for my fear of commitment. Todd

Trend Micro's reaction would indicate that your URL is "dangerous". Was that link meant to be live? Todd

    rustic coffin keezer build

Sounds like you have it choreographed. I've read about folks orienting their non-collared keezer with tower so that the lid lifts to the left or right. I guess the idea is that most of these rigs will be along a wall and have more space on the sides so the tower doesn't hit. Might look odd with...

What sort of gyrations do you have to do to get inside to change kegs, etc.? Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

So did you leave all the "ArduinoHome = "stuff commented out? Maybe because I started out trying a non-Wheezy install I got stuck in the mindset that I had to reset these parts of the config.cfg file. I stuck to the paths outlined in the manual install instructions so I'll try commenting those...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Would you post your brewpi/settings/config.cfg file? I'd like to get a look at your path settings for the various Arduino variables. Todd

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Silver .. I know that feeling. Fuzze ... yeah, the brew tower was probably what I needed/wanted least since I'm not even kegging yet. I guess it will inspire a top down kegerator build. Moving to Cornys is on the radar for me and the guys I brew with but I've been trying to concentrate on other...
