Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

The control box: I have 120v coming in with 2 pump switches (only one pump right now) and 24v out to the propane valve. Also input from thermister to the Auber controller. The HLT is nothing fancy. Keggle with analog temp gage, site glass, valve and HERMS coil (5/8"OD copper tube). HLT...

Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

After 4 months of work, my HERMS is finally up and running. First batch started today. (had to abort due to temp problems prior to mashing in. more about that in a minute). First, I want to thank all of you fine folks here on HBT. This is by far the most informative site I've ever come...

    15 Gallon Fermenter Table Build

I'm so glad this thread came up. These plastic conical tanks are an excellent idea for fermentor! Yet another thing to add to my build list! (Need to hurry up and finish the damned HERMs!!!) This forum rocks!:ban:

yet another help with burner question

So this cast iron burner won't run at LP even with a LP orifice?

yet another help with burner question

Hey gang, Have been building a Brutus-ish HERMs thanks to this forum but now that I've setup the propane lines I'm having troubling dialing in my HLT burner. The below pictures should show what I've got going on. A low pressure reg feeds the Honeywell valve. That goes to an old cast iron...

    Electric Flower Pot Smoker Build

I built one of these as well a few years ago, (Alton Brown is my god). Just flipped a similar size conical pot on top. Was probably the best smoker I've used to date.

    Keezer photos

That's beautiful. This and the other keezer builds that I've only recently discovered have given me very dangerous ideas. (I should probably finish my herms first and actually start brewing again though....)

    Copper Look

sounds expensive....and I wouldn't want the inside done (I don't think) just the outside. Any other ideas?

    Copper Look

While the stainless look is nice, I've been toying with the idea and visual of a "Copper Kettle". No pracitical reason other than looks and the ability to then use that name in reference to the "brewery". (navy diver thing). That being said, has anyone else come up with an inexpensive way to...

    Keggle Drilling Help

Oil is the key. It sounds counterintuitive that you'd need lube to cut, but without the cooling effect, the hole and bit get hot then case harden. Vegetable oil would do it, if you don't have anything else. A couple of drops (with a new bit) and you'll see the metal shaving start peeling off...

    Tips or problems with copper?

Hey gang, Have finally started assembling my HERMS and am the decision point of: "Hoses, Copper or Stainless?" for the plumbing. I'm thinking that I'm going to go with copper because I prefer the idea of hard piping and can get copper easier than stainless. I've read some of the posts of...

    Yet another propane plumbing question

Hey gang, First, yes I have read post after post for hours on end as I work to build my own HERMS on a weldless stand as depicted in this forum. I am not ready to commit the $$ for the automated gas control, so I have gone with high pressure burners (mainly because I had two of them on hand...
