Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

    Yep, 24 hours is sufficient.

With CIP, it's all about the inner diameter of the tubing. 3/4" for supply, and 1" for outlets is what works best for me. If your pump seems to be too weak, look at the tubing first. I was skeptical at first, too, but larger tubing does the real magic. @byounger: Thanks a lot! I'll go grab...

Yes, unfortunately, that may well be the case. The hop particles probably cause gushing (Mentos effect).

The Bouncer McDaddy isn't bad, but clogs up when lots of dry hops were used. Also, I don't know if it can sustain the pressure. I'm now using this one, which is extremely nice, but somewhat exotic and I don't know if it's available outside Europe (while it evidently was made in China, so it...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

This looks really nice and I've been searching for a connection like this one, like forever. Could you provide me with a link where you got this TC to tap fitting from? Man, you guys are really fortunate. It is a major PITA (and mostly in vain) to try and find seemingly basic stuff like this in...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Just make sure the difference in pressure isn't too high (2 PSI sounds about right), and don't rush it. The beer line's inner diameter shouldn't be too large and the pressure in both vessels should be near equal. Cold temperature helps a lot, too. You shouldn't see any bubbles forming inside the...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I've been using the larger CIP ball (3" TC) on my 7 Gal and 1/2 BBL BME Chronicals for a while. I can't compare the pumps, as Chugger & Co. are not available over here in Europe. I am using quite a large but inexpensive (~120$) immersion pump (one of those usually used for emptying out garden...

Thanks! Yes, the MFL method is what I am using now, and it works perfectly. I was just curious. The liquid out post on TC is something I hadn't seen before.

I meant the other one. The one on your racking port. But the jar connection looks good too, I've ordered one.

@Morrey: Where did you get that TC to NC fitting from?

This is what that one would look like. I'll get back and tell you how it worked for me with this batch.

Yep, I've come to the same conclusion (for now at least). To me, one of the greatest advantages the Unitank design offers is that there is no longer any oxygen exposure anymore, if everything's done right. I mean, zero. Natural carbonation and pressure fermenting are just added bonuses on top of...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I'm about 12 points away now from FG and will wait until tomorrow. There is still a lot of yeast in suspension from all the CO2, so what I am going to try is to shut the blow off valve, wait until some pressure has built up (a few psi) so that the yeast has a chance to settle. Then I'll dump...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Thank you, Morrey! Funnily I just found out by myself, 5 minutes ago. Wearing my glasses for a change, I saw that the PRV says "0.12 MPa", which equals 1.2 Bar, which in turn are ~17.5 PSI. Glad you confirmed this! How much does it blow off, once triggered (hysteresis)? I guess, it will close as...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

I've just discovered this thread by pure lucky coincidence, and I found some extremely helpful info here! Thanks a lot for that! I've been a huge fan of Ss Brewtech products for quite a while and I own two 7 Gal Chronicals, a 10 Gal Brite Tank which is currently being used for lagering a...

    Grainfather!!

Good news: With the new GF Connect Controller you won't have to worry about water calculations anymore. Just export the recipe from Beersmith in XML format, import it into the GF Connect App, and it will gracefully ignore these and replace them with the built-in formula. I've brewed a Stout a...

    Grainfather!!

I am using this one for recipes with lots of hops. It works really well and makes cleaning the GF after use a little easier, too. But for recipes that are lower on hops I just throw them in. I removed the spring and ball from the upper valve, since those tend to become clogged pretty easily. My...
