After months and month of Fermentrack working well last week it stopped connecting to script again. ESP connected via USB to an RPI zero. Did update last week, I’ll raise an issue on Github with the logs but just wondered whether anyone else has been getting this issue after long periods...

I use an old cigar box to house my RPI, ESP and LCD display, and then a plastic tub to house the relay and sockets etc. It's functional but my botched cutting means it's not pretty.

In water the iSpindel needs to be around 20 degrees tilt, yours looks like it’s around 80degrees so definitely a bit of weight in the bottom. Car wheel balancing weights works a treat and over in the UK have adhesive on the back too. But to answer your question small changes in tilt do result...

I use plastic typically, but in a couple of weeks I'm planning a brew in my corny keg so will use the tilt and post how I get on for you.

Is it just a case that the solder is spreading too far over the pads, if so you may be able to heat the solder up again and then suck off the wet solder, which will likely leave enough in the holes to keep the probe in place but prevent the short? I've not had an issue myself, and don't have...

This version uses both RPI as a webserver and the ESP device to watch the temp and control the chamber temperatures.

Bizarrely though the only two things that have stopped the scramble for me were. Swapping the sainsmart relay for SSRs And the other one was swapping the Arduino to and A Wemos Mini, coupled with the same Sainsmart relay that was scrambling the LCD. Which makes me think it might be Arduino...

I think, powered hub to the Pi and with USB out going back from pi to the USB hub and out to the Wemos (does that make sense?) its only ever been a problem flashing, as I actually have mine connecting and running via serial rather than WiFi.

For what it’s worth I could never get me RPI mini to flash my ESP I think it might have been a power issue?

Did you calibrate you ispindel in a fermenting solution or just in various sugar solutions? I think I read on the iSpindel github that calibrating it in a "live" fermentation allows the model to take into account the bubbles occuring during the fermentation. Not sure how much more...

Personally I use iSpindel purely as an approximation of Gravity but as confirmation that fermentation is complete. And hopefully less contamination. Actual abv I’ve grown not to be very arsed about. I guess I’m wondering what you’ll get from it other than perhaps a really exact abv

Thorrak, seen the updates and comments on github, is this why my version won’t acknowledge it’s been updated? I’m pretty sure I’ve updated this at least twice.

I ran it at every 20mins and it ran for over 2 months or so. I only need it for Gravity really so could stretch it out even longer.

Yeah click the x it disappears, but when I close Safari and reopen it does the same thing, it's not there when I view the dashboard. seems to purely be aesthetic. It started happening when it started dropping out and i deleted the wemos and reinstalled.
