    What's that taste? AG recipe

I'm about half way through lagering an Oktoberfest and samples reveal a sweet taste I recognize, but can't identify. It's shown up in a few brews now, usually in the darker ones. The recipe is below. What do you think? 5.5gal OG 1.066 FG 1.011 ABV 7.18 IBUs 20.6 8.5lbs Pilsner 2lbs Crystal 40L...

    Bon vino as brew pump?

I picked up a used Bon Vino Super Jet filter, I got a great deal! I bypassed the filter pads and use it for racking. I wonder, would it work as a brew pump? The Bon Vino people say it's food-safe, of course, but have no temp rating. What do you think? http://www.buonvino.com/P_SuperJet.shtml

I need a recipe with wild hops

How do you dry them? I know fresh hops need to be measured differently from pellets. What's the ratio? Once the fresh hops are dried, do they need to be measured differently from pellets as well?

I need a recipe with wild hops

Is wet-hopping like dry-hopping in the secondary but with fresh hops, or is it adding fresh hops to the boil?

I need a recipe with wild hops

My Dad, while on holidays near Owen Sound, Ontario, got two wild hop plants from a garden center. They were growing up the side on the lady's house and she was happy to dig them up and GIVE them to him! The lady didn't know what kind they are. There are a lot of buds but no full flowers yet. Is...

That encouraging! I'll be doing a brown ale with about 1.5oz EKG on Monday. Maybe I'll give it a try!

    Hop Ball?

I was hoping to use them in the boil. Turns out it might be too good to be true. Oh well. I might pick up a couple to try for dry hopping. Thanks for the advice.

    Hop Ball?

Have any of you tried these? Do they work? My local dollar store sell similar ones for... well... a dollar. http://www.midwestsupplies.com/hop-ball.html

10 gal attempt and long term storage questions...

Great! Thanks a lot. Do you also split the batches for fermentation? I was thinking of fermenting in two 6gal carboys to make the racking and kegging process a little easier. Make sense?

10 gal attempt and long term storage questions...

My brother, who visits very rarely and almost never likes my homebrew, popped in a while back and LOVED my Lowenbrau clone (kegged). I'd like to make a bottled batch for his hunting camp, where he spends a great deal of his time. He hates drinking from glasses, so I'll force carb and bottle from...
