Brewed this last night for the first time. Smells and looks great. I was hoping to have it ready for a friends wedding, but cut it a bit short on the time. Will I hate myself if I only keep it in the primary for 2 weeks and the secondary for 1 week? Anyone else try a shorter fermentation?
I redid the Teflon tape a lot more generously and then used some wrenches and elbow grease to tighten all the joints really well. Seemed to do the trick. Ran a batch the other night and didn't have any problems with leaking.
I've popped a lid before, but it was super minor and didn't recur. Tonight when the lid popped it flew threw my pantry and even weighed down happened over and over. The airlock was also clogging within a minute of cleaning and reinsertion. Ugh.
So I installed a blow offline a few minutes ago...
I just put my first all grain batch in the fermenter about 12 hrs ago and it's going so hard now that it keeps popping the lid off of the bucket. Never had this problem with extracts of course. I recleaned and sanitized the lid and weighed or down, but am I screwed on this batch? What can I do...
We're just talking about kegs with brewery labels right? Not all kegs in general. Post was a bit confusing to me. I also find it hard to believe that no brewery anywhere ever sells or decommissions a keg or goes out of business and liquidated them to the public.
I DIY'd my MLT and its great except for a nagging little drip from the pipe connector and the valve. Can I just hit with some silicone or do I need to redesign?
