    Refermenting a Belgian Tripel

I have brewed two six gallon batches of a Belgian Tripel for some friends' wedding. I'm determined to get it right. I've recently read Heironomous' How to brew like a monk and I'm trying to replicate the Trappist style of ale. After primary is complete I'm going to lager for three weeks at 32...

Jump in efficiency switching to Brewzilla?

I almost always exceed the OG projections of More Beer and Northern Brewers by 12-15 points with my Brewzilla. I think that it mostly has to do with the recirculation during the mash. I don't use the overflow tube, and have a 1/2" bolt to plug the hole. I stir the mash every 15 minutes or so. I...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I made and smoked eight pounds of venison summer sausage this last weekend...in a snowstorm! I accidentally took the last pic as a video.

1.087 Milk Stout stuck at 1.035 for 5 days.

I would remeasure the FG with a hydrometer and compare. I'm betting that it's actually lower.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Thanks DuncB, Live and learn, eh? I thought that a 60 degree basement would be cool enough but now I know better.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I think that the mash efficiency was 78 %. The mat was not on because it was set at 68 F. The fermentation was producing heat on it's own. The ambient temperature in my basement was 61, but the fermenting wort was 72.9 when I found it like that at about 14 hours after pitching the yeast.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Successfully brewed a big beer in the BrewZilla 35L yesterday. It was an Imperial Stout all grain kit from MoreBeer with an 18 plus pound grain bill! I plugged the overflow tube hole with a half inch bolt and duct taped over the malt tube handle holes. Started with 6.75 gallons of strike water @...

    How to remove labels?

Some craft brews have labels that are glued on with something that is insoluble in water. The paper labels come off it soaking but the adhesive is all there still. I spray the adhesive with Pam or any oil and after an hour the glue comes right off! WD 40 works as well, but what's in that ****...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Easter Sunday and I've got a dry rubbed butterflied Leg of Lamb in my Char-Broil vertical gas smoker. Maybe I'll post a photo when it's done.

Brewzilla v3.1.1 PID mod - worth it?

I've only brewed twice with my BrewZilla 35L, but I have mashed in at 8 degrees over my target mash temperature with room temperature grains. I use a Thermopro with a waterproof probe in the center of the grain bed to monitor the temperature and adjust the temperature accordingly using the 500...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Yeah, thanks. I used just 18 liters both batches. Two liters doesn't seem like much, but it should make a difference I would think. Both batches had a 14 pound grain bill. How about your brews?
