Born in Detroit. Lived in Inkster, Roseville, and St. Clair Shores Michigan until age 13. Moved to South Carolina for four months, then to Orlando Florida (before Disney World existed) for nine months, then to Indiana for 20 years. Finally, I have been back in South Carolina for 36 years. My wife and I spent this past winter in south Texas and will probably be doing that yearly. I expect to be doing some small scale brewing in Texas as I don't have my RIMS down there; perhaps some one-gallon batches of various brews. I kind of wish I were in one place all the time so I could set my brewery up properly now that I no longer work. I could drag out my ten and fifteen gallon cornies to use as fermenters and my 2-1/2 and 5-gallon cornies to hold my brews. I use my AutoBrew program to run my Sabco even though it came equipped with a Visilogic PLC that does the job very well. AutoBrew does the job very well, too, and in some ways makes the task easier. AutoBrew is not quite a finished product yet, but that's mostly because I keep finding things to monkey with. I could halt development right now and focus on cleaning up my code and have it ready for primetime in short order; after all, it works very well right now.

Tried a Mr. Beer Kit and wasn't happy. Bought some real equipment and began doing extract brews which turned out better. I moved mostly into all-grain and own a Sabco Brew-Magic which hasn't been used nearly enough. But now that I am retired I expect that to change. Early on I brewed an Irish Red that turned out really nice; but I managed to lose the recipe and am searching for another good one. I tried my hand at a Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale Clone that wasn't even close to the A/B version. Too bad because I really liked it before they pulled it from shelves. I would like to brew a Lowenbrau clone since it is no longer available in the U.S.; but that may be a difficult task since I don't have anything to compare it with. Lowenbrau had a unique taste that may have been a product of the hops. I really like Dos Equis XX Amber in draft form...not so much in bottles. I am planning to try out a clone recipe for it in the near future.
Future Brews
Brown ales, light lagers, a clone of Newcastle Werewolf if I can find a recipe.
