Well that will do it. I guess my over confidence after a few batches got to me. Well I will let this one sit for 3-4 weeks before bottling. Maybe it will even clean itself up.
I am not sure about the OG, but temp is about in my place at brew time was about 67-68 degrees. The yeast was from this kit: http://www.midwestsupplies.com/blonde-ale.html
I believe it was Safbrew T-58.
Temp in the fermenter right now is 73 though.
Two other things to note is that I added...
So I brewed a blonde ale kit that I had been waiting on during the northeast snow storm yesterday. This was only my fourth home brew experience and I felt great about all my sanitation and procedure. I pitched my yeast about half an hour before and aerated my wort nicely.
Then about six...
I rehydrated in a pyrex glass measuring cup that i had sanatized and rinsed an hour or so earlier. I guess I was just nervous because I literally dunked the spoon in there directly after having it in the sanitizer.
So I making a batch as i write this and just realized I stirred my yeast (rehydrating) with a spoon I just dipped in a starsan solution. Being its no rinse I didn't and just put it in. Did I just kill my yeast?
So I just racked to secondary a few hours ago. This was my first home brew so I was kinda nervous about it. I had a pretty good fermentation going for about two-three days. Today (7th day in primary) I decide it was time to rack to secondary, more because I was antsy than anything.
My...
Hahahahaha....okay fair enough. I thought I was coming down with something as the weather has been all over the place.
But since you brought it up why would you leave it in the primary for 3-4 weeks rather than rack to secondary. As I have never done this before I would love to use my carboy...
So i did my first batch of beer last night. Think it turned out okay. I rehydrated the yeast about an hour before and cooled my wort as quickly as possible. I poured it into my primary fermenter, added the yeast, and closed. I then shook it up for maybe 10 seconds.
After reading a bit...
Not sure why as im a noob. But the two books i have read say stainless is clearly the way to go. My guy at my local home brew store also said the same thing.
I am sure some other ppl on here will know specifically why.
Noob question but bare with me.
Everything I read from "How to Brew" on down talks about the importance of sterlization and proper sanitization when dealing with home brewing. I completely understand this.
Whats frustrating is that there isn't really talk of how to practically do this. I...
