Was the "lager" brewed with actual lager yeast? If not, 55F is way too cold for carbing. MrB uses the term "Lager" pretty loosely. Unless it's a special yeast with one of the recipes (like a liquid lager yeast smack pack) then it's brewed with ale yeast and is technically an ale.
Carb and...
I thought it was funny that he had no idea what "cold crashing" actually was and used it out of context at least twice.
Oh and the Fred Flintstone mash paddle too - where's the brontosaurus burgers?
How the hell could you 100% sanitize that fiber you're filtering with? There's no way even...
I agree with Chris. When we dry hop, we need to open the LBK to drop in the hops. 10-15 seconds is no biggie - just be careful of the surroundings and don't be right next to an open window where a wild yeast can swoop in and land in the LBK.
I agree wholeheartedly on the CaraPils and Crystal malt. I've been adding Crystal 60 to my extract brews (steeped 30 minutes at 155) for the caramel/color and it's working wonders. Too bad the Mike doesn't like citrus flavors.....this one would go great with a Cascade or Centennial hops boil...

Your LHBS is trying to sell you something, namely corn sugar. The problem with MrB kits and getting...
Kealia's right - don't throw a bunch of sugar into a MrB batch trying to boost the alcohol level. Deluxe refills are higher ABV and there is also the added malt option.
Sometimes it's best to make a few MrB kits straight up before you start to go all mad scientist.

I use a bottling wand and don't get much trub at all in my bottles. Maybe the last two. But I don;t waste it....I pour every drop every time and I love it. The minimal cloudiness doesn't bother me a bit. If I'm giving a HB to one of my friends, I try to keep it super clear for them but for...
I brewed the MrB Blonde Ale back in June and added 1.5 lbs of Briess Golden Light DME and did hops boil of Hallertauer (flavor) & Cascade (aroma). We cracked one open last weekend and it was very nice. Good hoppy nose and flavor but not "super hoppy" like an IPA. Deep golden color. Had a...
I'm on my 4th batch (brewed Sunday the 5th) and I have to say that all of them have acted differently regarding signs of fermentation. The straight up basic kit (Golden Cowboy Lager) took right off, within a few minutes. The deluxe kit (HCCD and Pale Export) took off after about 2.5 hours...
