Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I've been eyeballing this for a bit. I wondered how it would work out. Do you have the 15 gallon kettle?

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

@jready I spent 6 months with fluctuating efficiency and water absorbtion. I had to take a step back. It was really helpful to read everyone's posts because it looked like we were all finding our way with this system. The advice folks have had in this thread has been a lifesaver. Finally, I...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I've been getting between 79-82% efficiency depending on the grind . I've been pretty happy with it. Previous systems I never got over 70%. I let it drain until it hits boil then I set the mashtun aside and whatever else I collect I dump in before the end of the boil. This system was the...

    Colorado brewing systems

I'm now thinking of getting the SSbrewtech fermenters and then some time next year upgrading to 20 gallon nano w touchscreen. That price tag is a little too hefty for me at the moment. Nice thing is that i'll have no trouble selling this 10gal system.

So. This happened. Apparently the SSR melted. Yeah when we opened the panel, the bits that had melted fell out. Tim was great and they are going to replace the panel. I'm sending it out tomorrow.

So this might be a silly question, but I was cleaning this morning and my element turned on and heated up no problem I go to mash and the element wouldn't come on. I unplugged it to check connections but nothing was loose. Any suggestions?

GF ingredients to improve sorghum-based beers

Here's mine. GF Brown Ale 1# roasted lentils 1# malted buckwheat .5# dark malted rice .5# Dark roasted Millet 1# cooked brown rice 1# maltodextrin powder 4# sorghum 1.5 hour mash OG ended up being 1.052. A note on the flavor when I tasted the wort. It was roasty and slightly nutty and the...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

So funny story I have to share: I ordered a whirlpool arm to replace the sightglass, since that's useless for me back on June 24th. I kind of forgot about it until another package arrived a couple weeks later. I thought I'd give them another week and then send an email. I wasn't in a big...

GF ingredients to improve sorghum-based beers

Belgium candy sugar, and brown rice syrup work well as fermentables. Balancing sorghum with other fermentables can help minimize that really distinctive after taste. I would suggest grabbing some commercial GF beers and checking out what they add. I believe that Ground Breaker is being...

My next big purchase! How does that effect the overall weight on your kettle or pump. Where do you have it mounted? Do you then not have to switch any hoses at any point?

I'm with you @jabba11 I clean everything when I'm done and it does add about 30-45 minutes to my day, but with the recessed areas because of the welded ports I feel like there are too many areas for unwanted growth. At the same time I'm usually done with brewing in 3.5 hours which is a good...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

I use it and so far it's been ok. If anything I've been a little under with water needed so I've kept some in reserve just in case I need to add more at boil. What I've been having issues with is not enough boil off. Today is a 1 batch day, getting ready to get started after checking all my...

Nice! @pretzelb that's the best deal on caps I've seen. I take a measurement and temp when I draw a sample and adjust. I tested my probe and it was reading fine. Weather I knew was going to effect evap I just couldn't have guessed how much. Not unusual to have to add back water at the end of...

Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

First Official brew day today was 5 gallon batch of Munich Dunkel and with this crazy heat we've been having I had to add water to my kettle toward the end of boil to get back up to what I'd need to hit 5 gallons in carboy and still ended up under. It had to have been 90 degrees in the garage at...
