Thanks for the replies! I haven't gotten any updates so I didn't see them until today. The fermentation temp was steady using a controlled fridge (@65 degrees). Yeast was dry, SAFALE US-05. Hydrometer seems fine when checking so I dunno what happened. Unfortunately the batch is buttery so...

Hey all! No worries here, to each their own! I think it was a good idea for me to open one up this weekend and taste it. I guess a little background would have helped. I had been brewing here and there at my old house, when I had it out with a room mate and had to move into an apartment...

Anyone know of such a product? What I'm looking to do, is find some kind of labels that use similar glue to what is on 'post it' notes. I just want to be able to label my bottles, without having to worry about going through insane amounts of trouble pulling the labels off for the next batch...

So last night I decided to remove both from the fridge and smack the new one I just bought, and leave both out. (I couldn't find the nutrient pack in the mail order pack, so I just took it out of the fridge also) The mail order pack hasn't ballooned up any more than it looked when I received...

Yeah, thanks for the advice, this yeast I got through the mail is totally ballooned up compared to the one I just got from the local shop, its nearly flat in comparison.

The OG for this recipe is supposed to be 1.052 So pick up some extra yeast as a backup in case I pitch this and don't see any action? Starting to wonder if I shoulda just went with dry for my first try in two years hahaa!

Well I'm headed up to my local shop to get some sanitizer tomorrow morning, and I can grab some extract while I'm there. If I can get it going by mid-day tomorrow, it will still be better than not using a starter at all, right?
