    temp of air in fermenting bucket the same as the liquid?

    the temperature strip on my bucket is just above the 3 gallon mark, and I am brewing a 2.5 gallon batch. so the temp strip is reading the air space temperature. is the beer the same temp? higher/lower? thanks!

    is there a way to check the temp of the wort before pitching the yeast? like by touch? my thermometer only goes to down to 100F, and i wasnt sure if i needed to buy another thermometer for temps below 100F.. thanks!

    how do you measure the temp of the beer in the fermenting bucket? my kit came with a thermometer that adheres to the outside of the fermenting bucket, but if you have the bucket in a swamp cooler or something, wont the thermometer on the bucket be altered by the ambient temp of the cooler...
