    StarSan fear (rather, don't fear)

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but on my last batch I accidentally left about 1/2 gallon of starsan solution in my fermenter and put 5 1/2 gallons of bitter on top of it and pitched the yeast. I ferment in a 1/4 bbl sanke and noticed that it looked a little too full and realized what I had done...

Sight Glass in a Brew Keggle?

I just use one of my silicone hoses as a sight gage on my kettle. I attach it to the ball valve and hang the other end on my brew stand above the kettle. I marked the stand where the hose hangs in 1/2 gallon increments. You could do the same by hanging it on the top of the kettle and marking...

    bottling bucket

I've used a 5 gallon bucket from Lowes for a few years, but I would recommend getting a bigger one. I usually fill it almost to the top. I think any new or used bucket that is not scratched and can be sanitized is fine as long as it wasn't used for something that could poison you or add off...

    weldless valves: silicone washer

Someone here suggested cutting the base from a baby bottle nipple and using that as a washer. I have done this on my cooler MLT to replace the o-ring and it works great. They are made of silicone and fit the 1/2" thread perfect.

help installing heating elements in kettle

I just installed my heating element this past weekend with the nut and o-ring from bargain fittings. I flattened the keg with a hammer before I drilled the hole with a 1 1/4" hole saw and installed the element without anything on the outside and the o-ring and nut on the inside. The nut has a...
