Went with an abstract hop cone design, hope you all like it. I also didn't use any oils and just left the natural wood color. Mine looks terrible compared to some of the other ones already posted up here....those have amazing craftsmanship.

No stuck mashes since using the seal. That being said, I normally add 1/2# of rice hulls for good measure. But, the few mashes I have done without the hulls were fine. Hope that helps

Went with the thermoplastic and have yet to notice any off flavors in my brews.

Interesting. Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you have the aquarium heater in the growler, which is sitting next to the carboy, acting like a "water space heater" to radiate heat in the fridge? Also, How many degrees above ambient are you able to get using this method?

The oxygen element is very true, so maybe i am being overly cautious. Either way, I think I'll try out the submersible aquarium heater first just because it seems the safest to me. I have seen both of these before, but I am using PET bottles so I was concerned about direct heat contact and...
