I think ill try this route of the faucet to immersion prechiller then to counterflow chiller, then recirc the wort back into the brewpot until cool enough to route into the carboy.
thanks for the tips.
Just recently acquired a counterflow chiller, and was wondering if it is possible to recirculate the wort back into the kettle if the water going into the counterflow chiller is not cold enough to be able to cool a 5 gal batch quickly enough as it comes out of the counterflow directly? (hot...

if you are just disposing of the aquarium stones after every other batch or so, there shouldnt be a problem with doing this method I wouldnt think. The aquarium stones are cheap, and I only brew about 1 a month or so.
What is recommended as far as the temp controlling in weather where the temps are warmer in the day, and cold at night? temp controlling in the refrigerator would be too cold at night, and using a heater or belt will be to warm in the day? is there any great solutions to do something with only...
absolutely no problems. in fact, it should help aerate it some with the sloshing around, before you pitch the yeast.
We brew in front of our LHBS for demonstrations from time to time, then bring the carboy home, and pitch the yeast later once cooled further.
I soak bottles in iodophor for 10mins and then let drip dry on a bottle tree.
Ive never needed to clean the bottles first in oxyclean, since I rinse out the bottles pretty thoroughly after I open them.
