Non Traditional Grain (cattle feed) - Experiment for kicks

Revvy, that's a great article. Almost seems like it was written by a 10 year old, but hey, I'll try unhulled barley and post back results in a month or two.

Non Traditional Grain (cattle feed) - Experiment for kicks

Anyone ever tried using non-medicated cattle feed? This isn't anything serious, but I was wondering what might happen and how it would taste. We get the stuff cheaper than dirt, and I wonder if it would even be drinkable. anyone ever try this, any reason not to try this?

So, lone star staters... Why is Grolsch an Ale in TX?

I agree, specs downtown Houston has a seriously premium lineup that's always changing with what's available. and trust me, Mongrel, we were yeehawing as we watched you watch Texas in your review mirror. You won't be missed. Now if we could just get all the other damn yankees, west coast...

Allow smoking in our new pub?

Being a social smoker, I would go to another establishment that allowed smoking before going to one that didn't. Houston has gone non smoking and I don't go to bars in town particularly for this reason. I smoke cigars and cigarettes, and I even have a local bar that allows me to smoke my...

    Austin Homebrew is the best

I wanted to clarify something on my post. When I said ditto for me, i was saying ditto about how quickly and efficiently our cc company handled the situation and we were not negatively impacted. While it may be an inconvenience, I'm certain it wasn't AHS' fault. Not many companies would...

    Austin Homebrew is the best

Ditto for me. Wells Fargo prevented a transaction to Compusa for $750. They didn't even allow the charge to go through, calling me to approve the purchase. Card cancelled instantly, new card in the mail 5 days later, all is well. I have to change some autodrafts, but that's no real biggey...

Say hello to my new AG brewhouse

a steel stand may be in my future at some point, but i just couldn't justify the cost yet. Considering I'm about 100 bucks in on the bench itself, its semi disposable. If/When I got to a steel stand it'll be 100% stainless since I live on the Gulf Coast. Too much humidity for steel to last...

New AG Single-Tier Brewhaus is built

Now I just have to learn to AG brew :) My first attempt before the bench was completed will be bottled this weekend. My appreciation goes out to the forum for everyone's ideas, tips, tricks, fubars, that molded how this home designed and built single tier setup went together. Hopefully...

Say hello to my new AG brewhouse

Well, after much activity around the house (we found a house we like out of the blue, so we made a deal on it and now we're selling ours) the brewhaus is complete. Hopefully next weekend I'll get to make a trial run! I still need to think about rails to keep anything from sliding off the...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

bud light chelada.. clamato just is not a beer additive. i like a good michelada every now and then, especially on a beach in mexico. But that stuff is horrid.

Say hello to my new AG brewhouse

I did that to set the middle tier back a little bit. This allows for the pump to sit underneath the middle tier and extend out at a useful height without extending more than a couple inches away from the outer dimensions of the bench. I wanted to make it as snag proof as possible with as...

Say hello to my new AG brewhouse

I was going to do that, and in fact they were part of the plan. But I'm 6'5 and 300 lbs. I can literally jump on the center tier without any flex. The center tier ties into 4 horizontal 2x4's. Its definitely overbuilt, which was the idea.
