    Man, I love Apfelwein

I opened a bottle of my second ever batch of this stuff from Feb 2011 last night and it was mind blowing. If you have the ability to put some down for five years it will definitely be worth it. Super super smooth, lightly effervescent, tastes lightly sweet with fresh apples even though I know...

New Kegerator Haier 4.5 cu ft HC46SF10SB

Did you have any issues with the thermostat? The compressor just seems to keep running in mine. Where did you stick the little thermostat wire to keep it from getting too cold? I set mine at 1 and my thermometer read 19 degrees from the bottom of the fridge. Might have just been a fluke since...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I just started a 6-gal batch in my new apartment. 2.5 lb corn sugar. OG is 1.076, if it dries up like last time im looking at ~10% abv. Unless the montrachet dies before then, but since its a wine yeast I figure its hearty enough. My LHBS doesnt sell 2lb or 4lb bags of dextrose, so i had either...

    Year old Apfelwein

I kegged mine after around 40 days in the primary, then had to transfer to bottles for long-term basement storage. I used the homemade beergun method. It sat down there for at least 10 months. SOO wonderful. Minor headache this morning... but it was worth it.

    Year old Apfelwein

I put a case of Apfelwein bottles in my basement last May and sort of forgot about it. Well, I just cracked a bottle of it open... it is better than I could have ever imagined. So appley, lost all the of the "cideryness" that I remember from a green batch of this stuff. It is like...

    Beertails?... Bocktails?... Beer cocktails?...

I've been considering making a cocktail with my last bottle of DFH 120 min.... it is*rather undrinkable IMO* on its own, sickly sweet. Substitute for a liqueur in a cocktail... I am interested in how it would turn out. *edit: changed wording

    Im getting fat. lol

Ive lost 30lb in the past few months by starting to run. At first, it was next to impossible to run a full mile without feeling like dying. Now I am able to do regular 4+ mile runs without stopping. I just did a 12.5 mile race here in town, running the whole way at a 10min pace. Ive also cut...

    Growlers

I have growlers from lots of breweries. I just found out that one of the local higher end restaurants brews, and in addition to selling their beers in Imp. pints for $3 each after 9pm EVERY NIGHT, they do $5 growlers on Wed and Sun. So I always wonder if it's kosher to use another brewery's...
